In 2006, BCCI earned $1 billion from Zee Sports to air matches hosted in countries like USA, UAE, Canada, England, Singapore and Malaysia. Should BCCI try to do that again?

In 2006, BCCI signed a 5-year deal with Zee Sports to air 25 ODIs per year in countries like USA, UAE, Canada, England, Singapore and Malaysia. That deal went sour, but should BCCI try that again?

Obviously cricket rights for India's matches rake in big money. They already make big money from their deal with Star Sports for their home matches. If they hosted matches overseas and sold the broadcast rights and sponsorships in a separate deal, they could earn huge money from that as well. Especially now in the time of T20 cricket. You could host T20I matches in all these places, get game time for fringe players and they make their name outside of the IPL too.

Those were pre-IPL days. With so much money coming into IPL, not sure anything of this sort will be financially viable now. Plus the calendar has absolutely no space to accommodate these matches.

I'm unfamiliar with the rules of the FTP. Is there a limit to the number of games a country can play in a year?

Don't think there is any limit. However, our calendar is already packed. No space to fit in any unplanned series unless some series vs ND/Afg/Zim get rescheduled

What if there's a window of a week or two between two series? Could send a team of IPL stars to play T20Is overseas.

BCCI wants to replicate the same model with a mini-IPL outside of the regular one in India - played in the US.  Its an open secret.  And they even talked about scheduling it in the US with the top IPL teams at the same time as the inaugural season of the ECB's "hundred".  I hate BCCI corrupt babus, but seeing that play out would have made me happy, can't deny it.
