tapandrun Posted May 19 Posted May 19 (edited) Both Myank and Mishara bowled well, this is the issue here with IPL/t20 ow there are multiple batters who can score 20+ runs in any over. One can bowl 2 or even 3 good overs but batters can target 20 runs in 4th over as well. So if some is 24 in 3 over and 4th over goes for 20 or more its already 44 in 4 over , so from 8 eco to 11. Texan Posted May 19 Posted May 19 (edited) Mayank once again bowled his first 2 overs well with good pace and got hammered in the next 2. 2-0-12-0 today. In his first match, he had 2-0-15-0. Both times, his final figures were 50 runs conceded and no wickets. I think batsmen are finding his line and length too predictable after the initial few overs and are able to guess the line and length to launch their shots. He needs to take a leaf out of Mohsin's book I believe who varies his pace quite a bit. There is not just a fast ball and a slow ball, but he also bowls at many paces in between. What would also help is if he can deviate the ball a little. And for Vaibhav, he could have tried going around the wicket to change the angle. Mohsin's natural angle into Vaibhav tucked him up and he was not able to score runs off Mohsin. Batsmen also have realized that as soon as Mayank is hit off the front foot, the next ball will be a bouncer and they are ready for it. He has to learn to bowl a bit unpreditable and play on the mind of the batsmen. It will help if he is given the new ball as he will be able to extract good bounce from it. It is tough to bowl express pace on Indian wickets where the bounce is less and grounds are small. Taking no wickets and conceding 50 runs in 3 out of 4 matches will not give him any confidence. This is where team management has a big role to play to encourage him and keep him in the team and advise him on how to approach the next two over better. Bowl fast and hard at the ribs of Indian batsmen. Mix in yorkers. Mayank can just bowl between 148 and 155 kmph and to heck with the sissy slow balls. singhvivek141, Suhaan and express bowling 3

Newer bowlers have to learn the defensive skills this is must now else they will hardly have a good game. express bowling and Need4Speed 2

tapandrun Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Cricket specially IPL/t20 is at the same juncture where it was when ipl and t20 started to get going , new format the closest format was Odis and common understanding and norm was bowling with eco under 5-6 and if some1 was going 7-8 was a bad bowler for having a v.v.bad day. As understanding developed regarding the t20 game 7-8.5 eco was acceptable , it would be gold standard now , but default now is ~10 rpo, Bowlers now have to learn new defensive bowling tricks, previously it was about starting a good over and finishing a good over but nt batters are hitting 1st ball for 6s and they continue to hit. Bowler has to be lucky to bowl vs kolhi kind of batter who will not hit multiple 6s but after a 6 will tap it to 1/2s and then other batter will also take ateast 1 more ball so set-up the sight, so 6-8 runs in 3 balls not bad for now that is not the case. express bowling 1
MK55 Posted May 21 Posted May 21 (edited) This has been the most dumbest ipl so far. Not much for the fast bowlers. And the worst part is that it has been proven once again that it is without doubt the most important tournament career wise to get selected in the national side regardless of the format. The system is entirely broken. I don’t even feel like watching this joke of a tournament - since multiple weeks actually. Anyways which important domestic tournaments r coming up? I think Tyagi, Ashok should get more opportunities to bang that door open. Edited May 21 by MK55 singhvivek141 1

This has been like this all the times, its just now there are 3-4 145+ kmph bowlers who are on the benches and not getting constant chances in the side. The thing is every side is looking to cut down that extra 5-10 runs and they find these high pace bowlers are giving those extra runs on constant basis. Every1 has bad game in IPL but trundlers have less bad days, this is how teams look at it. And if they find some helping track than these trundlers can use cutters and other variations to take wkts too. Harshal/Mohit/bhuvi are good example of that how many Ind faster bowler apart from that 1 odd season by umran had good ipl season. Then there are bravo/Tye Edited May 21 by tapandrun

In most of those matches even Rabada n Prasidh went for runs. It’s common sense to prefer Ashok over guys like Kejroliya.
