Last yr teams didnt knew much about them but this season it wont be the case. This is where a lot of young players have fallen in past. Well, Not Exactly 1st season for Varun.C , Tewatia n Natrajan but after the Success last season teams will come out with a plan against them.

Bishnoi and Varun.C will specially face a challenge since teams wud have studied them .  Lets see how these guys perform or have evolved

Padikkal struggled last year. His strike rate was below average. Sucked all momentum in power play instead of blasting runs at a very good strike rate with field restrictions in place.

he batted very well, made lot of runs n if he had great s/r he wud have been an almost ready player.... to much expectation from young player. They ll improve with time n im least worried about his s/r as i know his striking abilty , its just a matter of time

The point was not whether he will improve or not. It was about the fact that he did not score at acceptable strike rate considering he bats in power play and it is T20 format. He even huffed and puffed after batting for 10 overs. His fitness is an issue. At his age his stamina is not proper. He was running and getting quickly tired like a 33+ year old man .

Currently he's Dhawan's like for like replacement

Means you won't see any change if he's given an opportunity now at the top for us

,only thing is he is young and will improve

I don't think we should select another player who plays for average but not for strike rate, especially in this format.

Would avoid Padikkal and prefer Kishan being picked. Leftie as well who can replace Dhawan down some day in future.

Kishan - 516 runs at strike rate 145 in 13 innings

Paddikal - 473 runs in 15 innings at strike rate 124.

Paddikal played more innings but still scored less runs than Kishan and his strike rate was also very lower in comparison.

Moreover, Kishan gives the option to keep if Pant gets injured during match.

Paddikal is good but his current version is no different from Dhawan,i expect a Dhawan like career for him in ODIs as of now,you said it right Kishan looks better in t20s

We should make it clear atleast openers in LOIs should have high strike rate
