zen Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 Yes, it snows in Israel in winter at Mt. Hermon, the highest and northern most point in Israel. Strategically, it is also important as it is a meeting point of 3 countries - Israel, Lebanon and Syria. It is said that you can look at the beach in Tel Aviv (and deep into Syria and Lebanon) from Mt. Hermom. Because of its strategic importance, Israel Defense Force has state of art intelligence bases at this location. It may have some Biblical importance as well but I can't recall from the top of my mind at the moment. Iran, through its proxies in Lebanon and Syria, has tried to attack it on many occasions. However, it is good to see people ski here, leaving all the security worries to IDF/government. Mt. Hermom is among handful of places where you can ski in the Middle East. Considering the relatively volatile situation in Israel, is it a place where you could go on holidays trusting the IDF?

Many threads that I start including with one line I can probably write essays on the subjects. First off I'm not interested in skiing at all. Isreal is a dangerous place. I don't care about hermon. on your question about IDF, it is only strong as long as murica and engerlund is behind it.

I have no direct question on IDF (thread is on travel) … My questions are on visiting Israel. So I guess even if you had the opportunity to visit other places, along with Mt. Major attraction would be Jerusalem, along with Tel Aviv area, for religious reasons and recreation (ancient sites, museums, resorts, etc.).
