I remember reading that there are plans to do tourism to the moon  by 2050.

Prices might come down to $25k.

Not a bad thing these billionaires are investing in technology. I know socialist minded people will say but what about xyz investment in hospitals etc. But its exactly this sort of thing that has spin offs which aid in improving lives across the globe.

Even with tickets costing $250K each, I doubt Virgin would be making much of a profit. I wouldn't be surprised if they're just breaking even.

I think from a business viewpoint, the operations are scalable and with time , innovations should bring the expenses down.

Yup, waiting for the price to come down.

I'd go in a heartbeat. I want to see the curvature of earth against the blackness of space.

What innovation? The biggest cost(?) is that of fuel & that's only going one way!

Innovations in load carrying capacity - more passengers in the spacecraft or the initial liftoff thrust ... you never know how it turns out after 2 years

If you look at say electric cars.

Back in 2000 these were the playthings of rich eccentrics. Price per kwh battery was $15000. Its currently around $137. By 2030 they saying it will be between 60 to 70. The new Tesla battery is already supposedly at $77.

Not saying all tech follows the same pattern. But i am sure space tourism will hope for the same model.

Look at low cost air travel. No real jump in technology but a different business plan has made things affordable for the masses.

Aviation is one large money pit.

There really isn't any money to be made in it (speaking from personal experience here).

As for as any aviation activity is concerned, I'll just write a blank cheque. Made peace with that.

I just love flying.

Its true for many things...most advances result in failure

Uber has not made any profits ever. Not many ride share apps have either. Airbnb model has been blown into touch by covid.

The bulk of these gig economy companies have just made super losses.

I read only way uber makes profits is with self driving cars. Will they make it to that point?
