Yup, good enough for a gold at the Asian games, 5th 6th at CWG and 10th-11th at the Olympics/ World Championship! A great future ahead of her. Very reassuring to see Anju Bobby George working with her since 2017. With right guidance and top class technical and strength training, we have a potential olympics medalist Edited August 24, 2021 by ShoonyaSifar Link to comment

She finished 6th with 6.83. Then upgraded to 5th after Marion Jones who finished 4th was banned due to doping. The story doesnt finish here. Read on.. The three medal winners from Russia — Tatyana Lebedeva, Irina Simagina and Tatyana Kotova — have since been charged with doping.Infact Anj was upgraded to gold winning status in the 2005 World Athletics Final after Russia’s Tatyana Kotova was stripped of her medal in 2013 following a retesting of her 2005 samples. Tatyana got silver in Athens. Anju along with two longer jumpers from United Kingdom and Australia had asked for an investigation into possible doping violations at the 2004 Athens Olympics and had found support from their respective federations. Unfortunately all samples have now been destroyed as per rules in 2014. The federations have cited the report by World Anti-Doping Agency’s investigator Richard McLaren, which exposed the institutionalised doping by Russian athletes for years and resulted in them being banned from the 2016 Rio Games. Such a pity for Anju.. Russian scums The Russian gang was disqualified for doping in 2008 Olympics as well. A bunch of cheats Link to comment

Too damn unlucky, should have medaled in Athens but for Russian cheats, could have been a game changer for Indian sports. Still remember following that long jump final like it was yesterday. That World Athletics Championships (2003) bronze was India's finest achievement in athletics before Neeraj's Tokyo gold. She suffered many serious health problems, making her feats even more impressive. Same reason I rate Amritraj so highly, he was an asthma patient!!!! Grit and guts. ShoonyaSifar
So Shaili Singh's jump of 6.59 meters will not be the national junior record as she had a wind assistance of +2.2 mtr/sec. Anything over 2 m/sec rules out timing being considered as record. Link to comment
