What would be India/IPL team's policy if a player and/or support staff catches COVID during the tournament?

Ind had COVID cases in Eng. But the match was scheduled to go on. Cancelled because Ind players refused to play.

Indian players refused only because it wasn't cancelled while it should have been cancelled once whole of Indian support staff was in isolation and players were close contacts. This is the conventional wisdom. ECB was only thinking about their money, not players. Imagine if same thing had happened to England in India, game would have got cancelled without a second thought.

If BCCI and ICC do not cancel IPL and T20WC (like Eng did not), what the players do? Abandon their IPL teams and country to walk away

IPL already got cancelled once. IPL and WT20 are tournaments. You are comparing one game to a tournament. They aren't one off games. If any player get tested, him and his close contacts will get quarantined and won't be able to play. If several cases comes up, high chance tournament will get cancelled. Also important thing is to understand what kind of arrangements BCCI and ICC to keep players safe, like Bio Bubble. ECB didn't have any such thing.

Those things are already considered. Discussion is beyond those things. Therefore:

Why would ICC and BCCI cancel tournament? It's not like India cancelled whole tour. They will cancel the games of those teams and if there are cases in multiple teams, tournament will get cancelled too. Test is a two team affair. If one team has Covid scare, it gets cancelled. You are comparing chalk and cheese. A test to a tournament.  While IPL has already been cancelled once. Here 5 members of the team were isolated and this is the biggest reason, players didn't feel like playing. They were scared too.

The correct policy is if vaccinated and asymptomatic they should go ahead and play.

So they isolated the close contacts. Same thing had happened in SL. Because only one player is positive, atm. In SL, 9 close contact players were isolated. Rest played. Same here because it's a 4 hour game.

Yes, possible in T20, not in test that too once close contacts are isolated. Test is 5 day game.  Even one player positive will mean test get cancelled.

Yes and you still don't get it. I thought you were an intelligent poster. The fear players were talking about was getting infected mid test because they were asked to play without isolating close contacts and if they had isolated the close contacts, India couldn't have field the team for the test. That's why Kohli had asked to postpone the test for 2-3 days to have more tests done which ECB had refused.

First to even qualify for a discussion, you need to understand the difference b/w playing guidelines in respective countries. You are clueless and continue to post your India specific knowledge

 

As already discussed multiple times, in UK isolation requirements are different. I guess that you may not even know that IPL has no vaccination requirements and therefore could follow different guidelines

Clueless is me or you? Playing guidelines for cricket are not same as the guidelines in the country. Covid guidelines in England had no bearing on what guidelines would be followed for the test series. BCCI follow their own protocol. They isolated Shastri's close contacts too. They isolated 8 players in SL, so, that's the BCCI protocol. Close contacts get isolated.

Dude why do you keep confusing guidelines in england with gudelines in IPL? There was no isolation requirements in england

So are you saying if more players are positive, which means larger numbers of close contacts, IPL should be called off? Yes or no?

But that's not the policy. You don't make policies on your whims and fancies. Current BCCI policy is to isolate close contacts. You can't expect teams to play one player down that's stupidity of you.
