What would be India/IPL team's policy if a player and/or support staff catches COVID during the tournament?

Indian players walked away from the 5th test v Eng citing COVID fear, opting to fly to UAE early for the IPL (in this way, they will not miss the early games) ... Hypothetically, if any player or support staff were to get COVID during IPL and/or T20WC, would the IPL/Indian team abandon the remaining matches and catch a plane (preferably a chartered one) back to India? Or would the show continue?

BCCI didn't try to force players to play IPL in India to make money once they had cases.

BCCI organized IPL in India when it was seen as a bad idea in the first place. Later tried to rectify the error when the situation became unmanageable. Players played in such a risky environment.

 

World Cup is an ICC event.

 

The thread is on key Indian players though, will they walk away like in Eng if someone in the team gets COVID (when other teams, which do not have issues, continue like Eng in test would have) or play because it is IPL/T20WC ignoring their principles.

Why would they walk away? BCCI will cancel it directly like they did in India.

BCCI would not do that for a few cases. In UAE, we saw  players in quarantine during IPL such as Gaiekwad, who had COVID.

 

As mentioned before, appears as if you are confusing canceling the event in India when it was considered high risk in the first place. T20WC itself was moved out of Ind.

 

And BCCI will cancel T20 WC?

Gaikwad got infected before IPL, not during it.

Even in IPL2021, there were a few cases after which BCCI reluctantly postponed the event.

 

Players probably would still have continued to play despite risks if BCCI did not cancelled it.

You are not understanding the difference. Here players were close contacts and test is a 5 day affair. If it was a one day or a T20, they would have played. Important thing I don't get is they quarantined close contacts of Shastri immediately but they were asking players to play who are close contacts of Covid positive. No team would anyway play a 5 day game without their support staff. They aren't playing hide and seek. Support staff is needed after every day.

Cancelling WT20 has to be decided by ICC. Most likely it will be postponed if it is difficult to continue. 

 

Last time it was few cases only when IPL was stopped. 

 

Again meaningless thread about speculating something when it has already happened and we know what decision was taken.

But match will get cancelled like in case of Old Trafford. Same happened in IPL. They first cancelled KKR game when Chakravarti was positive. Then when some more cases came out, whole tournament got postponed.

Here we are discussing a similar scenario to Eng where only Team Ind  has cases. Other teams continue to play

So if a team has Covid cases, match will get cancelled. Like in IPL too, only KkR  had a positive case and match got cancelled.
