PRE GAME DISCUSSION: INDIA v NZ 1st T20 JAIPUR 17th NOVEMBER 2021

India are now almost unofficially out of the World Cup, the BCCI needs to look towards the future.

 

I think the squad selected for these games will determine if Indian Cricket is looking forward towards the future.

 

The only players from the team that got slaughtered by NZ IMO that should be part of the squad are: Kishan, Pant, Thakur, VC. I would rest Bumrah.

 

Going in this direction will allow India to field as many as 12 players to this squad and will rejuvenate this team.

You beat me to this thread. The match is still 16 days away. 

 

It will be the 'revenge' series. Can't wait to see all the stupid ads to show the same thing and Ind to beat NZ to complete the revenge.

If I want Ind cricket to go nowhere, I would probably post the below:

 

KL

Rohit

Kohli

Gill

S Iyer

Jadeja

Thakur

Ashwin

Shami

Bumrah

Varun C

 

Super solid top order (#1-3) specializing in stats padding. KL to hit a 100, Rohit to hit a 100, Kohli to hit a 100

dependable upper MO who can stats pads too if wkts fall 

Jadeja & Thakur in lower middle order to do the big hitting

Ashwin to take wkts against left handers

Bumrah-Shami to run through the Kiwis 

Varun C to be too good for the Kiwis to read 

 

6 bowlers including proper ARs

5 solid batsmen

KL to keep. 

Rohit captain (then wrongly picture him winning an ICC trophy like he does for Ambani powered and visioned MI)

 

No hacks like SKY, Pant, Pandya, and Kishan. 

KL to keep. 

 

 

Ind to crush the Kiwis.

Watch out for the Jazba and Daleri we show at flat home pitches with home fans for this  super important bilateral series and show the world how T20 wasn't important enough for us to put even any effort in

I will have interest, only if the BCCI select an entirely new squad.

 

Then it will be an exciting peak into the future. If Hitman, Kohli, Jaddu etc are selected, I wont watch it.

 

Im tired of Kohli and Hitman scoring meaningless centuries/good innings in bilateral tournaments.

Don’t think either  Rohit or Kohli should be in that team. Let them play ODIs and tests. Should be a young aggressive team with no baggage. And we should let them risk losing games as they develop. Sky, Kishan should definitely be part of the mix. They can work their games out here. We paid the price by not giving these guys enough experience in the international game before exposing them to the World Cup. Same problem with Varun. He needs to be tested in low key settings like this.

My lord. Are you serious that we go into another series in a matter of 16 days? Were BCCI that confident that we wouldn’t be playing on Nov 14 for us to start a home series on 16th? 
 

I understand that VK and co have not done justice to team india in this world event but you cannot be trying to squeeze every single penny that you can by conducting one series after another. These guys need a mental and physical break. BCCI needs to be held accountable for agreeing to such crap scheduling.

True, however Ind has the option to rotate players or field a different 11. If I am not wrong, after this the next series is in Feb

In case you did not know.

 

This series starts on 17th Nov, then immediately followed by a tour to SA, then they come back to Ind to play a series first against WI, followed by SL. Then comes IPL. In early June after IPL. we play SA at home and then head to Eng to play a test and LOI series.

 

And then the T20 WC. There is still nothing scheduled between the Eng series and next T20 WC. But expect it to be filled soon.

This is simply pathetic! How can the fans demand 100% from the players? Having such a schedule even in non-Covid times would prove mentally and physically challenging. Had BCCI groomed solid pool of players for rotation, this schedule might have been excusable. 
 

So far, Ganguly has been a big let down.

Maybe that is a hint that BCCI will go a different direction i.e. new team after the cup is over. If not, I agree. Stupid scheduling
