umpire Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 There is seperate award for the best U19 player. The jugdes are I believe Sunny, Shastri and one other indian. So far we havn't seen much of U19 guys. Virat Kohli has played all the games. And he has under achieved so far. Ravindra Jadeja has played all the game and has looked good so far. Sangwan impressed in last two outings. The guys like Saurabh Tiwary (Mumbai), Tanmay Srivastava (Punjab) have not got much chance. So who win will the award. I think Ravindra Jadeja might win it.
Cricketics Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 too early as of now Jadeja looks favorite.. but still another 8 games to go.. so let's see who wins the race

OriginalCopy Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 If Abhishek Nayar is an U19 player, he gets my vote. Mark my words, he'll be a shoo in into the T20 Indian team in the near future.
ludhianvi Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 not many of the u19 guys have played many matches. Jadeja and Kohli seem to have played the most. Some of the u19 guys off the top of my head: Virat Kohli (Bangalore) Taruwar Kohli (Rajasthan) Saurabh Tiwary (mumbai) Shreevats Goswami- Bangalore ( the wk keeper who impressed me with his keeping) Tanmay (punjab) Sanghwan (delhi) Ajitesh Argal (punjab)
Zakhmi Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Jadeja and Kohli seem to have played most of the matches, also they have performed well in tense situations...so take them as the choice for the best U19 players...
satishg Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 its piyush chawla..he is the undisputed winner..he is picking wickets in all the matches and he thrashed ishanth for 20 runs..so he is the front runner as far as now..
Rohan495 Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 its piyush chawla..he is the undisputed winner..he is picking wickets in all the matches and he thrashed ishanth for 20 runs..so he is the front runner as far as now.. yes piyush has done exceedingly well.
umpire Posted May 6, 2008 Author Posted May 6, 2008 piyush chawla was not the member of world cup winning U19 squad. He played in one before this and he is no longer U19 kid. So he won't get the award for sure.

Chandan Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 who said he is not 19..he is still 19.. But not under-19!
Sachinism Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 U-19 Player of the Tournament Who's been outstanding so far? Sangwan is my pick cant really remember who else is u-19, Shahid Afridi? he's done well with the ball
bigdhoni7 Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 cant really remember who else is u-19, Shahid Afridi? he's done well with the ball :hysterical: and yeah it has to be sangwan although ravi jadega did perform brilliantly in a few matches.
umpire Posted May 13, 2008 Author Posted May 13, 2008 we saw glimpse of Abdulla today. Virat Kohli has been hit and miss. Jadeja has been flop in last couple of matches. Sangwan is picking up every game.
Predator_05 Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Ravi Jadeja should have won it. Goswami was good, but he played just a handful of games (thanks Rahul).
umpire Posted June 1, 2008 Author Posted June 1, 2008 if Jadeja had made some runs, he might have just got it. It was his brainfart that cost him
