If anything the "captaincy" will give him his 2nd coming as a batsman.

 

Australia is developing a formidable batting side, if it can find another opener and middle order batsmen. They bat deep and have decent fast bowlers.

India know the code to break him but Smith is GOAT for a reason. We do have our goat bowling attack however. So we can strangle his run scoring.

Australia have a very strong squad. Most people don't realize how difficult the 2021 series was vs them. The amount of damage we had to endure to beat them in their home was insane and would mentally disintegrate every other side not named india. 

 

Australia have better batting than us easily in Aussie conditions. Even in India it's close. Infact I would say their batting is superior unless you include sundae Gill in the middle along with Rahul etc. Then we are even. Both our bowling attacks are scary good. Nothing to choose there. Their fielding is better.

they should play this XI going ahead: 1. Bryce Street (true old-fashioned opener), 2. Warner/Pucovski (Pucovski will take over if he's fit), 3. Labu, 4. Goddy (Smith), 5. Head/Renshaw (Renshaw is better suited for middle order IMO), 6. Green, 7. Inglis/Carey (I rate Inglis more than Carey), 8. Cummins, 9. Starc/Jha Richardson, 10. Hazel/Jha Richardson, 11. Lyon/Sangha (Tanveer Sangha can take over from Lyon in future).

Travis Head, England destroyer in Gabba, won't last 20 balls vs Ashwin. He is having a dream run only because England don't have good spinner (offie) and fast bowlers are mostly tired by the time he comes to bat.

moreover, head always does quite well in Oz. His domestic FC record is pretty solid too.
