Srinath was the quickest bowler in India during the 90s. He bowled quicker than Kapil, Zaheer in their prime. SA batsmen said that much. In that series in 96/97, he was clocked at 156k faster than what Donald was clocked at. @Rightarmfast this is the thread for you. enlighten those who havent watched sri in his prime. Just for effort alone, Srinath wins the battle. I remember him destroying the saffers on a dustbowl in 96. Ahmedabad perhaps. also RAF claims he was blocked by Kapil for most of his early career because Kapil didn't want Srinath to gain popularity and probably gave him shitty advice. Sri OTOH helped Zaheer, Nehra, Agarkar, etc without claiming it. Just on that alone, Srinath is a better person than Kapil.

Anybody doubting Srinath's abilities hasnt understood cricket and fast bowling. There's a reason why Shaun Pollock last year took Srinath's name in the top 10 fast bowlers of his time. There's a reason why Jayasuriya spoke especially about Srinath, why Nasseer Hussain and most English batsmen speak so highly about Srinath.

Being a spearhead and being a stock bowler are 2 different things. Srinath had to fill both the shoes. If Bumrah didn't have Shami, Ishant, Siraj etc on the other side supporting him, he would be half the bowler. If Wasim didn't have Waqar on the other side, both Waqar and Wasim would have been much lesser bowlers.

Srinath hostile bounce and his accuracy, I would still say none of the Indian current bowlers possess those qualities. He was atleast 3 times better than Kapil as a bowler. Talking about his pace, in 2003, he clocked speeds in excess of 143kph! And trust me when I say this, I have not even begun talking about Srinath's bowling prowess and the positive effects it has had for Indian cricket!

If only he had a Shami and Ishant or Zaheer bowling alongside him for majority of his career, his name would be taken alongside Waqar, Mcgrath and Curtley! He was top notch fast bowler. Statistics sometime, dont show the real picture.

yes, pacers hunt in packs. and importance of fast bowling culture shouldn't be underrated. srinath had neither for the most part. prasad was good only on some pitches and oppositions.
