What happened to Markram's career?

Markram's started so well in test cricket. He was the quickest to get 1000 runs in terms of days. It looked like he is going to carry South African cricket forward.

Markram till that day- 811 runs-50.69 average
Markram since then - 1089 runs-30.25 average

Not suited for opening in SA. lays too many shots and does not have the art of leaving balls for hours and hours. He would have done better as an opener in Australian conditions.

 

He is good player of pace and bounce but while dealing with uneven bounce and lateral movement, you cannot go hard on everything. He will get it right sooner and should maintain batting standards of 40+ over his career.
