I remember Nehra & Balaji in the past, both of course were pacers!

Yeah it's weird to see how he easily gets injured..  Only young batsman  I can think who can match him in getting frequently injured is Will Pucvoski.  He is undisputed King of freak injuries.

Mayank has an issue against moving ball regardless of where he bats. He is no different from Manish Pandey. If anything Manish Pandey has lesser weakness than either of these two players.  Iyer's positive is he can really hit big and produce massive overs. Agarwal has a good range of shots.    I am not sure if he will be good enough for kedar jadhav type of roles.   Outside powerplay we have no clue how he will bat.. Pant has the same issue. Once the field is in and out he struggles to rotate the strike. Relies largely on risky slogs. Despite weakness only resaon I back Iyer is he is more level headed than these guys.

iyer is  100% mentally tough but imo he suits tests not loi.

the guy avg around 47 in last 16-17 innings in ODI , if thats finished ....well :giggle:\

thats how good a player virat is that even at his dip he is scoring, we all remember how KL dip looked like. When players have their dips they dnt struggle to buy run and this si still virat kohlis runs

Neither. Mayank is an opener. He has always opened the batting in all forms of the game.

we shud get over this mindset in LOI , KL was an opener too and look at his record at 5

lel look at the strikerate. I am supposed to be impressed by these scores against meddling mediocre bowling?

let me put it this way. virat at his absolute best. like peak varat crapped the bed vs gun attacks. he has never performed against full strength bowling attacks of SENA in even bilaterals except maybe the n.z series before 2019 WC away from home.

He is a master of stat padding. Thats all he is.

he is beyond useless outside off stump. He is absolutely pathetic in tests but we wont go there now.

in LOI, he does not have the power game to take it home. its either him or rohit. both shouldnt be playing together.

also looks fine in most innings....

no one will ever be at their best but the diff between great ones n others is their dip wud also be better then others best.

Same is with david warner, despite his game going downwards he came to party in recent Wc

what tough knocks in s.africa? when? that one 50 he scored where he wasted so many full tosses and half trackers outside off lel. thats the worst 50 i have ever seen in my life. looked so listless and clueless outside off. he was so afraid to even attempt going for shots outside off. ruined our chances tbh by putting all the pressure on the supporting batsmen by playing slower than pujara.

aaj ODI men to hua nhin , problem isnt he gets out attacking...he gets out defending which is why he failed in Aus n twice in SA .

In test it ll get worse coz swing seam will be even bigger problem for him as he plays a lot cross and plays far away from body as well

Scoring runs in SA is never easy, everyone thinks ppl sitting outside will....u back who now has failed on 2 tours of SA that to just white ball wherea red is far tougher

Except Iyer always played in the middle overs. Mayank never played in the middle order. Too many unknown variables. In NZ Agarwal was an epic flop.  Iyer scored 3 back to back fifties They have played 5 innings together.  Iyer comfortably outperformed Agarwal. For all the negatives Agarwal oscillates between a dominating batsman and utterly mediocre batsman. Nothing in between.

sarfraz, vihari (scored an unbeaten 40 odd in a tough situation), gill (injured), eeshwaran all did well vs S.africa A team. That team had jansen who got smacked around a bit by these guys too.

You pick players who do well in A tours. give them a chance especially where your seniors are duds.

batting in s.africa isnt difficult if you have a good backfoot game. we lost because of **** batting. strokeless wonders getting favourable selection calls over deserving batsmen. ofcourse injuries dint help. rohit, gill, sundar, jadeja etc. not to mention some A tour guys would have been handy. no need for ashwin who is uesless in SEN.

could have gone with chahar at 8 and thakur at 7. all out pace.

yea. just have to give him one shot though in A tour atleast. lets see.

He is very mentally tough. its a pity he is so weak vs bounce.
