Shai Hope scored 51 in 100 balls. That is terrible strike rate in modern day ODIs.

yes Incredibly pathetic. Worst part is he still has supporters among WI fans.

SA has Miller, Aus has Maxwell, WI have a few, Eng has Livingstone but none better than Jimmy Neesham when it comes to hitting sixes from start. He has been in some six hitting form this series. Has closed the games every time. 6 balls faced, smacked 3 sixes. Ind, Pak, SL, Bang have none.

It was so pathetic that it completely negated Pooran's innings of 90 in 55 balls. Shai Hope always provides hope to the opposition.

His job is of an accumulator because Windies are very capable of collapsing even after 150/2. However, yesterday's knock was undoubtedly terrible. For Windies, he has a part to play in ODIs at the top but after facing 100 balls, you gotta score atleast 70 runs.

That role is an outdated role. With two newish balls and more fielding restrictions his batting approach hurts them more than it helps.  It works when you chase a total like 250. On flat decks this is highly counter-productive.

Windies need someone to play that outdated role. Rest of the batsman would buckle down 80% of the times before playing 50 overs if you replace Shai Hope with another inconsistent basher.

Now what Hope needs to work on is to maintain that same consistency but with more proactiveness and awareness of strike rate. Remember, Windies are no world beaters, they need Shai Hope to keep themselves away from getting clubbed as minnow ODI team.
