Nawaz can bowl in PP too.  They won't play two left arm spinners.  Pak will go for a pacer.  Either Hassan Dahani or Mir Hamza (130-135 kph left armer) will make the cut.

yea they wont but wont be a bad idea to play 2 SLA since we have so many right handers and pant throws his wkt when he sees a SLA

Yea they ll play seamers and they are a talented bunch but an inexperienced one too, if they dont get our batsman early they are in trouble . Our top 3 is not bothered by pace or hard lengths , its movement and spin . They know they can feast on an inexperienced attack in death phase so they ll see off spinners or make pant-pandya-sky take them down.

Can't play spin (left slow wristies)

Can't play swing (left arm angle kryptonite)

Can't play bounce either if the wicket has juice

Wtf can our top 3 play?

Yes Naseem was moving the ball around nicely vs Netherlands & his indipper is really good.  But overall yeah it's fairly easier pace attack to deal with now.  I won't mind SKY opening & taking these guys on early on.  Rahul certainly won't attack & I worry for his form.  Kohli will do reasonably well too vs Rauf or even Wasim jnr/Dahani..

Naseem-dahani both can move the ball at good pace but but if these guys see it off then they wont have anything to stop them, same is the case with shaheen if he doesnt get them early they ll hit him bad . Naseem-dahani are also inexperienced and havent reached their peak so expect looseners or them loosing control if things dont go acc to their plan soon

Pakistan whole game plan against india relies on shaheen taking down top order. Even if we play our old school conservative cricket we ll still score 180 which is not their cup of tea

If one of our top3 who plays pace bounce as good as any bats with one of pandya-pant-sky ..............as a pair they ll easily take down any pace-spin combo

Problem starts when they bat together coz their strength and weakness are same .

Not as bad as our batting. I don't care about replacement. Go with anyone else. Anyone young with potential.

.I don't want these old farts anywhere near t20.

Rohit is the only one that should play due to captaincy.

Go with 2 from jaiswal Gill sky pant ishan etc to open.

jaiswal who has a big problem outside off

kishen whose s/r is worse then kohli s/r in slump and has problem with any kind of movement

gill who is yet to have a big season even in IPL

Pant whose again international s/r is way worse then kohli s.r at slump

Grass always looks greener on other side

Shaheen with that movement at pace is a tough bowler for any opposition to face..I wanted him to play though..as we dont want to win hoping a lower quality opposition..we want to beat them at their full strength..that would have also dashed all their hopes for wt20 clash..and give us extra edge..

like beating the full strength Aussie team was far more satisfactory than beating them without warner smith and co..

they dont have any excuses anymore

Also as other members have posted..SriLankan bowling is exciting plus they hv all rounders too..

It willl be a different matter if experience outweighs them but being agressive against Hasaranga and Theeksana in middle overs will be very challanging

Rather lose with younger gen than the old washed up has been. Period.

Giving Shaheen rest prior to the WC could be because of:

  • A genuine niggle
  • keeping him away from prying analysts
  • Minimise game-time vs his bowling for opposing batters prior to WC

Whatever be the real reason, any IND top 3 batter who dislikes starting versus a left arm quick will savour the opportunity.
How many bonus runs the IND top order accumulate versus the revised Pak attack remains to be seen. And yes we need a left hander in the top 3.

In the past they have had wahab who never did much damage. Even wasim in big games failed.

Omly amir did well and that was only in champions trophy.

Recently shaheen owned us in the t20. Let's see next time though.

Junaid Khan MD Irfan & even Wahan if u consider 2011 WC have troubled.  Wahab was a spray gun & was taken down later but initially he troubled us too.

Main reason is Indian players don't get to bat vs 140 kph left arm pacers in domestics & that's why they struggle.

They do face plenty of right armers in their grooming years & learn to play the angles well.
