zen Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 (edited) As a humble mountain loving monk forced to live in a city with skyscrapers and therefore cricket being one of the saviors, below are my expectations from T20s in 2022, assuming 170-190 runs conditions where the final total batting first depends on a variety of factors including how the opposition plays: Ideal Team Composition 4-5 specialist batsmen including WK 2-3 ARs 4 specialist bowlers. If a bowler can bat at #8, great! Batting Framework # of overs (or balls to be more precise) = scarce resource in T20s More wickets in hand = higher SR expectations from batsmen Top Order (#1-3) Team wickets in hand: 9-10 Balls remaining at the start: 120 Plays in PP to take advantage of field restrictions Usually get to bat in all the matches so theoretically in better touch than the middle order (#4-7) Goal(s): To get to a 100 asap whether it is 100/0, 100/1/, 100/2, or 100/3 No anchoring needed Power Play expectations: Taking 180 as the midpoint of 170-190, an RR of 9 at 20 overs mark, End RR + 1 or more, which translates to RR of 10+ in PP -> 60-70 runs (even better if more) #1-3 Batsmen judged based on strike rate. Middle Order (#4-7) Usually play the middle & death overs Teams wickets in hand: 8 or less Goal(s): Play per the situation including having to anchor IF early wkts fall Carry out a planned attack including figuring out bowlers to target and bowlers to milk Death overs expectations (depending on wickets in hand): For a midpoint end score of 180, RR of 10+ in the last 4 overs, which translates to 40-50 runs (the more, the better) #4-7 Batsmen judged based on the ability to play per the situation including handling pressure. Bowling Framework Strike a balance b/w picking wickets and containment Goals: Powerplay: in terms of runs, attempt to give less than 60 runs (the less, the better) ... i.e. will take a RPO of 10 or less (esp. if wickets are picked up) Death overs (esp. last 4: attempt to give 44 or less runs (the less, the better) ... i.e. will take a RPO of 11 or less Bowlers judged based on a combination of strike rate and economy. What are your general expectations from a 170-190 pitch? What is your ideal team composition? Edited October 8, 2022 by zen sandeep 1

Norman Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 Anyways... 1. Batting depth until 8 - All thre top 8 batters should be able to rotate strike and also hut sixes against all type of bowlers. 2. Minimum 6 bowling options - Of which 2 should be genuine wicket takers, one with new ball and the other in the middle overs. 2 should be extremely good at the death. 3. Minimum of 8 'good' fielders - Who are all very safe with the high catches and also great at saving runs in the outfield. Should be good at aiming the stumps and have a good arm and throw. 4. Mentality - To quickly adapt to different conditions and situations. Must have 8-9 multi dimensional players with others being top tier in the one... dimension(?) they're good at. (Like SKY in playing attacking cricket or Shaheen with new ball). express bowling 1

If it excludes the WK, good! If the 8 includes the WK, it means having to “hide” 3 fielders in the age of 360 degrees batsmanship Norman 1
zen Posted October 8, 2022 Author Posted October 8, 2022 From the upcoming T20 WC PoV, per Wade, against strong teams like Eng, Aus would need to target 180-200, considering Aus' relatively strong bowling. This brings the midpoint of the batting first range to 190!
vayuu1 Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 Team composition should be 4--3--4 With four batters 3 allrounders and four bowlers of the four bowlers atleast 1 possibly two should be bowling allrounders u need 3 genuine wicket takers one in powerplay one in middle and one at death ,of the two openers one should be a power hitter and dasher at same time, other can build innings and has the ability to take game Deep that doesn't mean he is 50 of 40 type player rather someone who can make 50 of 30-32 balls, u need atleast 4 360° power hitters with them being extremely good runners as well while other 3 being busy players and has some sort of power game as well, ur bowling if possible needs atleast 1 possibly 152-155 kph genuine wicket takers and two allrounder who are highly skillful one being 146-151kph bowling allrounder other being 142-148kph batting allrounder then u need a very good spinner who has variety and control plus a spin bowling allrounder, also u need 8 very good fielders with 3 possible 4 being great fielders and rest 4 being good fielders and one exceptional wicket keeper and two decent fielder who are good catchers ,to approach ur innings u need to access the conditions if its a good batting track say where anything in range of 180-190 is a good score First PP look to score 9-10runs po :54-60 Second pp(7-15): 8-8.5:70-80 Last power play 16-20:10-12:50-60 If its a helpful track either slow or has Swing where 150-160 is competitive make sure ur batters are busy between wickets and never let runrate drop below 7-7.5 till 16 and in final 5 look to get 9.5 to 11 Banton 1
