What? Anderson bowled similar pace to Bumrah during those days. Even now he hits 140ish. He was no slouch.

IPL is played in April-May for two months, not four.

I have regularly seen Andie bowl these days. even at 40, about 2 balls per over in the first few spells are around 135 kph. that is some serious pace for a 40 yr old. and when he was in his 20s, he was genuinely brisk. not as fast as bumrah, but definitely not a trundler.

Its why I have lot of respect for Pujara for going to England and playing county cricket over there.

 

Mind you county cricket in England, you are treated and respected very well, being an international player would only amplify this.

 

Our batsmen have many faults and do not do their due diligence to rectify it. Just one example, look at SRT when he got Sivaramakirshnan to bowl to him in the rough on worn out pitches to prepare to take on Shane Warne, the first time in India.  Kohli would rather take selfies and post instagram.

Anderson does play tests only. The workload still is much different for bumrah. He plays all formats and IPL. Can bumrah sustain all these with injuries ?

no. but we have next-gen options in umran and tyagi and maybe even kuldeep sen.

 

bumrah needs to do the following alone: (a) play in SENA tests [we can manage in SC and WI]; (b) play regularly in bilaterals in the years leading up to ODI and T20 WCs [and be picky about bilaterals in other years]; and (d) play IPL for his money

Not to mention you missed the entire trail of discussion and decided to be more perturbed about the Indians being proud comment.

 

The suggestion was Bumrah should play Ranji Trophy or other lower levels of cricket to get his skillset and conditioning up to speed instead of being played in a SL series where he has to be nursed back carefully. Easier to do it at lower level. This does not impact his personal life that you are so worried about. lol.

when anderson was in his 20s and early 30s, I think he was an all-format bowler.

his personal life is important. needs to get that rumpy-pumpy, otherwise he will be down on motivation, pace, etc. as per that notorious meme from the 2011 WC.

it is the priority of being Uncle. old, balding, often fat - if you go out on the roads, you will see many like them.

 

and before someone jumps on me, let me say that obesity in US is much worse, but it's all-ages in US. whereas in india, I have often seen people balloon in size from teens to 20s, then to 30s and beyond

Lol guys in Australia complain about Work life balance but same can’t be extended to cricketers ? Because they earn millions is that your justification?

But Rohit and ashwin did earn right of picking and choosing series. They did play for india long enough. Tedulkar used to do that too. Although you could argue Rohit runs away from spicier pitches.

What rubbish are you talking about? You have an inferiority complex.

 

All I said is that Bumrah would be better off playing at the lower levels so he can be gradually be brought back to form and fitness rather than the rigors and pressure of international cricket. So in effect its the same work load without the pressure.

Obesity is pretty bad here in Australia. We have over 60% of the population that is overweight.

 

Interestingly when only the rich kids in India were morbidly obese, you are now seeing it in lower class of Indians due to proliferation of fast food in Australia.
