Sucker punched. Stokes stuck to his ultra aggressive field set.

This is what i am saying. Where is te tactical traps. No proper field placings. We proclaim to be best in IT etc. What are the data ablaysts doing g lol. I think our analysts are probably doing their job but our mastermind coaches refuses to acknowledge their input. That's my intuition.

I love Ashwin , he is the best cricketer India has produced, it is not his fault that he has been kept out of the team.

But this Indian team is so one dimensional once they leave Asian conditions. It is so hard to fit Ashwin into the team.

MMQB is very easy after the fact, but let us be realistic about what Ashwin can do and cannot do.

I am completely against blind rejection of a bowler without factoring in opposition, condition, ball, pitch history, what he brings overall to the table. We keep forgetting Ishant played a massive role in India's pace success overseas. After he left we have not been the same. Tall seamer who could extract bounce and bowl miserly spells and do a holding job. So we blindly back randomly any 4 seamers hoping that trend will continue.

Correct. Firstt of all when Shastri/Kohli started the template there was some purpose in executing that strategy. Bumrah was also at his peak back then pre-injury phase. Current pace unit is not even 30% as good as that unit.

That is fault of captain, selectors and coach for not selecting proper four fast bowlers. But Ashwin cannot and should  not replace a third seamer .

Ashwin playing instead of Umesh as many are suggesting is most ridiculous thing, you cannot go into a test with just two fast bowlers.

Ever since rohit took over as captain, fitness levels went down hill. I blame bharat arun leaving as the main reason. Players are able to bully poor paras Mambray and he gets blamed for it. Reality is, rohit and co are ruining our cricket by lowering fitness levels and making absurd selection calls. Self sabotage.

Agree with this. Should have been prasidh or Sen if not for injury.

Ashwin could replace either Umesh or Thakur anyone.  Don't forget Shami has one of the worst record for a seamer in England. Talk about history. None of the bowlers are good enough except Siraj probably.

Also these guys are getting old. Shami is definitely not 33. He must be close to 38.   Umesh is 36. Siraj is 30

Too many injuries. Prasidh bumrah Sen all injured. I still would have gone with a young gen player from domestic who has the fire to perform over shami and umesh. These 2 are old now.

But our team obviously prioritise seniroty over merit.
