Had Australia batted first on that pitch Australia would be 338-8 and India would be allout for 246 in 48.5 overs.

Australia struggles against new comers. They just don't have blueprint of new comers to work against. When Pandya was injured India had opportunity to draft in Paragh or Abhishek. Missed a golden chance.

Doesn’t matter blaming the pitch is loserish, the way Bumrah and Shami were moving the ball in the first 10 overs, our top order wouldn’t have lasted in the 2nd innings either. Rahul and probably Jadeja would get aimless runs and we would have finished well short: we lacked intent. The only way to outplay aussies in knock out situation is to counter attack. The wouldn’t have chased 300+, Sky got all the blame but Rahul, Kohli and Jadeja all screwed up even worse.

So this is as close you will get to a confession that Dravid lead think tank tampered with the pitch that back fired because they didn’t account for the dew or believed the Aussies are bigger fools than him & would choose to bat first.

how can you extend the contract of this guy who doomed us even before a single ball was bowled by leaving us at the mercy of toss?

So they expected turn from the pitch. But went with just 2 specialist spinners. Sounds illogical. This is not the first time pitch has "backfired" on India agianst Australia. There is no peep about his backing of SKY in ODIs. With Jaddu not doing anything INdia effectively had just 5 basmen in the line up to play out 50 overs. No 6th bowling option.

They knew they would lose the toss
