Another point to be noted , England won in Pakistan with their pace trio getting massive reverse swing while the Pakistanis could not.

Otherwise , there was nothing separating the teams.

I wonder how Abrar Ahmed types compare with Ashwin/Jadeja/Axar.

Not so much on a wicket which is true and flat.

You need high quality quicks to stop the run flow.

But I just hope it's a dry wicket with enough spin and grip to not allow Bazball.

England need even paced surfaces to hit all the way through.

Whenever they've been confronted with either a slowish or high bounce surface , they've flopped.

Whatever they are doing to "prepare" the ball gives their attack a lot of bite in these conditions.

Jimmy averaged 15 when India toured last.

Usually accurate swing or bounce based fast medium howlers always hurt us. Never the ultra fast.

Thats what hurts most batting lineups in Tests.  Bounce or lateral movement of a high degree.

Skiddy pace is useless except against minnows.

But for us even trundlers below 130 hurt us if they can swing sean the ball. Poor technique

Skiddg pace is the key in tests and ODIs in Asia. Has to be paired with either some reverse swing or some seam movement.

I meant skiddy pace on its own is useless especially in Asia.

It's why Haris Rauf and Mark Wood got ripped apart at the World Cup.

Of course, allied to lateral movement , that's a different story.

In most tests and ODIs in Asia, for pacers, the key is to attack the stumps. And that works best if the pacer is skiddy quick like Shami.

Wood and Rauf failed because they were bowling too short for Asian pitches and not hitting the stumps often enough.

For skiddy pace need wkt to wkt action that can fetch lbw, normal action doesn't work that well.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has unveiled the squads for India A vs England Lions, second and third matches with Rinku Singh joining the team

A key exclusion from the third game is Sarfaraz Khan, with Shams Mulani replacing him

So sarafaraz can be the replacement for Kohli.

Sarfaraz ahead of Patidar? Strange selection to make at this point.

Sarfaraz was in rousing form 2 years ago. That qualified him to enter the waiting period. Which he did. And he is now in ok form, but has "paid his dues" and can enter the test XI.

Patidar's current form will be rewarded in 2026 when he is 33 and in ok  form.

Patidar selected...  So finally selectors did a decent job

Glad to see that. Even by our standards, I had some hope that Patidar would be selected ahead of Sarfraz because Patidar numbers in 'A' matches

Glad common sense has prevailed.

But he won't play. Dravid said KL won't keep , so they'll play Bharat mostly.

Also great to see them select from.the A team instead of taking safe bet by selecting Pujara or Rahane.

If any niggles  or personal reason ,some one pulls out from the squad the selectors should selection from.the A team ie Sarfaraz,Rinku etc
