Oppositions will figure out his weaknesses and exploit them eventually. What we need is absolute bare knuckle fighters who aren't afraid to dive for that extra single and show intensity. Both in bowling and batting. Just because heavily lopsided bowling conditions with a debutant spinners on English side with aging Anderson he scored means nothing against more quality attacks. Agree to it somewhat, the stronger challenges await for him. However, we must praise him for his mental strength, whether batting with tail in first inns or handling the pressure on a cracking pitch in second. He looked in absolute control and didn't show any jitters or fidgetness. There are many players who despite playing for so many years often get cold feet when everyone pin their hopes on them. They have the ability but not the mental strength, Jurel has so far shown that. It's a positive sign. Norman and express bowling 2 Link to comment

Just an opinion from so far I have seen 1. Rishabh Pant - No comparison of him. Becomes 1.5x the player on big occasions or the time when team really needs him. 2. Rinku Singh - Very little in internationals so far but has shown very good composure every time I have seen him anywhere. 3. Pandya - Not a youngster anymore but 2022 ODI series decider in Eng, 3 Asia cup games vs Pakistan, WC 22 SF vs England.. has shown that he does have clutchness. 4. Jurel - Showed signs in this game. Sundar and Shardul notable mentions. Need to see more of Yashaswi, Gill, Sarfaraz to judge them. Agree with the names (minus Sarfaraz). Gill often swings the pendulum from one extreme to other. Sarfaraz looks fidgety/restless at times like Jadeja and I have my doubts, hope to be proven wrong. Edited February 27 by singhvivek141 Link to comment

He was supposed to be a great player of spin singhvivek141 1 Link to comment

Time will tell but no reason whatsoever to write him off especially as he has been performing consistently well in first class cricket too. He may be heavily built but appeared to have good energy in the field and between wickets plus took a good catch running in and diving. Kron and Sandz 2 Link to comment

Promising for sure but to proclaim him as more dependable than Pant needs a much bigger and varied sample size. Shreyas Iyer looked a million bucks Vs spin when he debuted at home Vs NZ too and we all know how that turned out. Edited February 27 by lemsip express bowling 1 Link to comment

That first innings lead was crucial & allowed Eng to win that test. Now jurel could maybe not be that effective away but he has a more reliable game, at least on first glance. But we can play them both away so it's not necessarily pitting one against the other. But shreyas bhai had very bad skill vs short ball. Jurel seems good vs short ball express bowling 1 Link to comment

But litmus test will be vs sena in seaming or bouncy tracks. Would have loved to see him vs SA last time. Sandz and express bowling 2 Link to comment

Indians generally do well in Australia as the ball comes dead straight mostly. We struggle where the ball moves. Link to comment
