yusuf pathans record breaking odi debut set to begin

Recommended Posts

Why is Dhoni under bowling Yusuf Pathan yusuf pathan is a regular off-spin bowler, not a part-timer. it is hard to understand y he was only given 2 overs out of 50 despite the fact that he took a wicket & conceded only 9 runs. if u look at his domestic record of the last season, he picked up heaps of 5 wicket hauls & was even the 2nd highest wicket-taker in ranji trophy among spinners, next only to piyush chawla taking 27 wickets in 7 matches. even in domestic odis, he bowls his full 10 overs most of the time & even in ipl he was regularly bowling about 2-3 overs/match. atleast yusuf pathan should have been given 7-8 overs in odis. worst of all even yuvraj singh, a part-timer was given bowling ahead of a regular off-spinner in yusuf pathan

You cannot argue with the stats that Yusuf Pathan averages 43.27 with an economy rate of 4.90 in List A cricket, hardly outstanding. On average, he bowls 6overs and 2balls per innings in List A cricket and so is not quite a mainstay bowler for them. Hopefully, Yusuf can lessen the load for Sehwag whilst removing the bowling load off Yuvraj's shoulders because I feel him a God-awful bowler.

Yusuf Pathan is not necessarily a 'like for like' replacement for Harbhajan. The team dynamic can change with a change in selection. There is no need to simplify things as you did there.

Dhoni must have something against Yusuf Pathan' date=' just like he has something against Badrinath and the other Southies.[/quote'] it does look like that otherwise y would a player called to replace harbhajan singh bowl only 2 overs despite having figures of 1/9

Great captains work on instinct, perhaps it was Dhoni's instinct that Yusuf was about to be hit for runs, he has the best view standing behind the stumps. Stop trying to promote conspiracy theories of racism, Dhoni is not a racist otherwise he would have worked hard to prevent Yusuf's inclusion in the team/squad.

YKP is no great bowler, however, I do think MSD can utilize him for more than 2 overs. Given that our set of part timers are {YKP, Yuvraj Singh, Sehwag, Rohit Sharma} - among these YKP can be tried for few more overs esp on days when IKP or RPS or someone is going for more runs than usual.
