Probably the last time we toured WI for such a long series and when they still had a decent team on paper back to front though nothing close to what it was even a decade ago. 

Gayle has had a very long career when you think about it, he was opening the batting in tests for a good while before IPL. 

Many people know Gayle for his IPL exploits but he was a proper test match opener. The first morning there was some seam movement and Gayle and Hinds played pretty carefully to score their hundreds. I think they scored 200+ together on a lively pitch. Our famed batting collapsed to 100 in Bridgetown. Its pretty clear who were there mentally. Those were the days I used to watch cricket until 2-3 AM.

If Fab 5 were playing on the juicy pitches similar to the ones India has been playing in last decade , they would be averaging maybe averaging lot lower  except Sachin who might still average over 50.Sachin had ability to adapt on any pitch.

 

Dubran 66 and 100 all out. They got bowled out for 76 in India against SA on a pitch where SA scored nearly 500. What about 2011 in SA first test when SA again score nearly 600 after our great ones got bowled out cheaply 136 .Slight hint of green they would be wetting their pants.

 

All those blunders in 2001 WI and in SL. Even when facing one of the worst teams in NZ and England in 1990s/2000s as every other team was whipping them to pieces but our teams led by Fab 5 even lost to them..

 

Plus they never had guts to play five bowlers for them to help pick up 20 wickets. Poor bowlers would be getting blames for the losses but only time India won were when those rookies like Sreesanth or RP singh delivered.
