The challenge ahead - profiling India's opponents tomorrow

Recommended Posts

An Indian XI again will take on the finest beasts of burden Pakistan can come up with tomorrow in a one day match in Mirpur. Here's a quick rundown of the opponents India will have to deal with. (with a tip of the hat to the original legend who inspired this many moons ago, Gambler) The batting 167767254_501c4c7c68.jpg Shoaib Malik stands alone as the captain and a jack(ass) of all trades, doing a wonderfully mediocre job with the bat, ball, captaincy and every other responsibility trusted to him. bdonkrs.jpg Shahid Afridi, as usual the youngest member of the side, could be the major threat for India with his brash aggression and tremendous power. Shame he has the brains of an ass. monk-and-a-donkey.jpg Salman Butt's considered the next Saeed Anwar by some, but has rarely shown signs of the same, despite repeated efforts to get more productivity out of him. donkey-pulled-fuv_6816.jpg The senior batsmen in the side, Mohammad Yousuf and Eunice Khan will again be expected to do the bulk of all the work for the side, as they did recently leading the charge against the mighty Zimbabweans (shown above). Kicking%20and%20screaming.jpg Misbah ul Haq's innovative and bold strokeplay could also be a major point to watch for, and a challenge for India's bowlers. Here he's shown playing his fabled paddle sweep shot, and losing balance somewhere in its execution. _41391627_littledonkey203300.jpg Kamran Akmal may be the weakest link in the side, struggling with his front knee after a collision with Mohammad Kaif in the IPL final, and still unable to learn how to combine gloves and hooves to take a catch once in a while. The phaaasht boiling donkeyspi7.jpg Plenty of team bonding here, unlike with some previous Pakistan teams. With the main senior bowlers sitting this tournament out, relative veteran Umar Gul (top) takes charge of the attack, taking young newcomer Wahab Riaz (below) under his wing (very literally). donkeys_in_loveville_md-02.jpg Sohail Tanvir and Fawad Alam both rose through the ranks together (photo from an old youth training camp held by the PCB), and will no doubt test the Indian batsmen. A big plus for India is that two of Pakistan's top bowlers will not be taking part in this series burrolast.jpg Pace ace Showhaibh Akhtar seems to have fallen in love with the Bollywood lifestyle having been doing duties for Shahrukh Khan recently. He may be taking it too far with the makeup and bling, as this recent picture of him waiting for SRK indicates. asifzi1.jpg Star Phaaaasht Boiling Legend in the making, Mohammad Asif will play no part in this contest being held in Dubai for suspected drug use(mugshot above).
