Actually the fixtures in the original post are wrong as positions are pre decided

It will be

Group 1

India

Scotland (replacing Eng)

West Indies

Bangladesh (replacing SL)

Group 2

US (replacing Pak)

Australia

Afghanistan (replacing NZ)

SA

It will be

India

Australia

NZ/Afgh

SL/NL/BD

No way West Indies and Scotland coming to India group.

Scotland can only qualify for the Indian Group if England, Scotland qualify to the next round as Scotland replaces Australia.

Other group

SA

WI/Afg

England/Scotland

Pakistan/USA

Afghanistan will be in India's group. Their NRR is so high that even if they lose to WI, they're unlikely to finish 3rd in the group. And B'desh should be the 4th team as B'desh only has to beat minnows to get there. SL had to beat one of SA or B'desh but they lost both the games. Ideal group for us.

Are you sure about Scotland/England. I'm pretty sure it's Aus, or whoever replaces Aus gets into Group 1. And same with the West Indies part - I think it's NZ or whoever replaces NZ, which looks like Afgh.

Wikipedia is wrong. Checkout this BBC article as well and they say the same thing as Indian Express...

https://www.bbc.com/sport/cricket/articles/cj7mmedrjryo

The 20 sides are split into the following four groups in the initial phase:

Group A: Canada, India (A1), Ireland, Pakistan (A2), USA

Group B: Australia (B2), England (B1), Namibia, Oman, Scotland

Group C: Afghanistan, New Zealand (C1), Papua New Guinea, Uganda, West Indies (C2)

Group D: Bangladesh, Nepal, Netherlands, South Africa (D1), Sri Lanka (D2)

Let me update OP as it looks like there's a lot of confusion around the Super 8 groups and seedings.

Edit: Have updated OP to make it clear the way Super 8 works and India's schedule for Super 8.

Sri Lanka Nepal Match to be washed out in a few hours 99.99% so Sri Lanka going home . Either it will be BD or Netherlands making to the Indian group..

Same ground where USA plays Ireland on Friday. Forecast is 80 perc rain. Today it was mere 50 perc and see what happened. Florida thunderstorms are crazy. Billions of dollars of catastrophic insurance is underwritten in Florida..

Aus are rolling out these Minnows and 1st of the 4 matches scheduled at Lauderhill gets washed out as expected.

Why can't the ICC morons check the weather before scheduling WC matches. 3 more matches scheduled here incl an Indian and Pakistani game are 100% certain to be abandoned too. There's thunderstorms predicted all week.

We will have 5 matches abandoned before the super eights for sure unless rain intervenes in WI too. Fukkk you ICC.

3 more matches will get washed out here. This is going to be the worst WC as far as abandoned matches go. 2 already, 3 to go before the super eights.

W.indies can smash us on their day. So can we. Much harder than facing nz England imo.

Rest are easier. Aus is just clutch in ko but we have pant now.

WI won't beat us if we play Kuldeep.

It could potentially be

India

Afghanistan

Australia(Q)

BD (NED are too weak)

It's still a pretty strong group. Afghans are ridiculous strong Guyana type pitches.

The other group is more interesting.

You could, potentially, have

SA(Q)

Scotland

USA

WI

Group 1 (India's group) is almost set in stone though Group 2 may very well be like what you mentioned with Scotland sneaking through ahead of Eng on NRR. If that happens, who would've thought that a group comprising B'desh and Afg as the 2 out of 4 teams would be the stronger group

Hazlewood hinted they might consider losing to Scotland and  eliminating England as they are a big threat :phehe:

So, Scotland going through is a real possibility no matter how much England thrash Namibia and Oman for a superior NRR

A very smart decision as England is the most likely team to trouble them in knockouts so why not eliminate them. I would do so as well. The aim of the tourney is to win it and eliminating Eng gives Aussies a better chance at winning so why not.
