Now.... The Olympics

Last year I had a really good time from Sep-Nov 23 except for the final.

Won Asia Cup, beating the Pakistani and SL. Won Asian games record medal, with Pakistani not winning a medal and also defeating them in a close match in squash. Just WC 23 faltered.

Now after this hopefully we win 10+ in the Olympics.

What are our REALISTIC Olympic medal chances?

Neeraj Chopra

Nikhat Zareen boxing

Rankireddy-Chirag in badminton doubles

few others we can win if we are clutch.

As usual shooting has several prospects but we know their choking problem. Wrestling, men's hockey, Sreeshankar Murali in men's long jump, Lovlina, couple of wrestlers.

Realistically, be happy if we can match Tokyo. Too many injury issues, form problem. Range can be from as low as 2 to 10.

Hows Meerabai chanu performing. I have hopes from archery now. The old generation flattered to deceive. Used to be like this Indian team. Win everything and then in ko s knocked out. The recent batch is good. I think mixed doubles with bopanna is also an outside chance. Shooting we should win 3-4. We have 18 going

Archery we always flatter to deceive, will be same this time as well.

No hopes from badminton singles unfortunately. Sindhu's days as an elite players are over, Lakshya Sen too raw.

PS: Just saw that Murali Sreeshankar is ruled out of Olympics because of knee injury, a medal prospect that too in athletics gone.

@LordPrabhzy not good for us, somehow don't have positive vibes this time. Even wrestling we have lost focus after the protests last year, politics etc.

Mirabai Chanu no chance. May finish 6th if she gives her season's best. Her personal best won't give her a medal, 3 other competitors effortlessly surpassing her PB of 201 kg that too by 10-20 kilos, all her rivals are younger than her.

Lot depends on shooting. If we get off to a good start, we may surpass Tokyo.

Our contingent in Tokyo was stronger, and more in form.

Hockey we have a good squad but Aussies have mentally destroyed us this year. Who schedules 10 games against those monsters just before Olympics?

Shooting is the only place I have some hope. Hockey we would be lucky if we get a bronze. Boxing (women) and Badminton (doubles) let's see. Javelin we have a few really good guys so hoping for 1 from there. Our mens 4 x 400 is really good. of course they won't win a medal but making it to finals will be an achievement. Wrestling, I would be shocked if we get a medal this time.

On the flip side if you play aus, it prepares you against Netherlands and Germany.
so indias group b has

Belgium,Australia,Argentina, nz and Ireland.

group a more tough group: netherlands, germany, spain, south africa, france, great britain

so 4 teams to qualify. in quarter. India will probably finish 3rd and play second best team of group 1 ie Netherlands or germany.

Honestly Hockey medal is the toughest. You play 5 group league 1 qf 1 sf and 1 f/ bronze match ie 8 matches to win a medal. In boxing you can win 3 and win a bronze. Hockey should give bronze to both semi finalists.

Yeah hockey medal is very tough, hence all the more satisfying. I enjoyed the Tokyo bronze even more than Neeraj's gold, just because of our journey throughout the competition.

Coming back from 1-3 to beat Germans, who are mentally tougher than Aussies as proved in last WC. Amazing.

Thats why i have hope we can at least beat germany or Netherlands in qf s. Out semi final may be easier than the quarter finals.

Somehow finish 2nd in group stage. Don't want to face Ger/Neth in QF. I still have scars from Rio where we ran into Bel in QF because of our lack of ruthlessness in group stage.

Belgium screwed us in sf last olympics by cheating. Horrendous umpires
