I find Abhishek's exclusion totally inexplicable. That is one the most bizzare decisions Indian selectors have ever made.

Because Abhishek is not consistent. On his day, he will bludgeon the attack and take the game away from opposition, but in the series against Zimbabwe he didn't show he has it in him to do that consistently. Against better teams, he may be found out.

Cannot expect consistency from a guy who strikes in 170s.

Even I am disappointed not to see him squad. Infact I wanted them to take umran as well but I understand why they left him.

Hopefully there's better communication with him and he has been told that he's in the scheme of things and one of the core/central players for Team India moving part, i.e. group of 20-25 players. You can't just leave these youngsters to fend for themselves, and have to provide the support structure around them.

Either you can get consistency or high SR & impact. You can't get both. It's similar to Head where he can go 0(1) or 70(32). The whole point of batting deep is to have these impact players so even if 1 or 2 fire with decent support from others, you'll win more often than not.

If you want consistency, go ahead and load team with likes of Kohli and KL Rahul the way we did for the last decade and saw the results. Tourneys are won by impact players like Head, not by stats-padding.

Bencho, I am talking from the perspective of the stupid Indian selectors and bcci.

If I was a selector, Abhishek would be the opener

Tuktuktaj is not good enough. He is very slow starter. Dont fooled by his century as 70 odd runs came from Maxwell and hardiee bowling .

Gill is way better than him but still I think Abhishek should have selected ahead of Gill.

CSK fans are crying about non selection of tuktuk Raj on social media. I really love this meltdown.

so Indian selectors want some mythical player with 175 SR and 35+ Avg..upgraded SKY who can open the innings consistently with success..

I am not too much concerned about Ruturaj drop..as he is an accumulator too..not an upgrade over Gill..

I am unhappy about Abhishek Sharma's omission..he could have been an X factor player for us..if he plays to his promise..

and guess what he bowls too..

agressive opening pair of Sharma and jaisawal would have been so exciting to watch..Gill can play at number 3 if he has to be there..
