Aussie batting looks suspect too. Smith on last legs that too opening same with khwaja.. Marnus luck seen to have run out. Only Head is the genuine danger for us.

But if you close offside for head he is a goner. He was fed offside pies by indian bowlers. Just bowl straight to him with square leg fine leg mid on. And bowl short to him. He ll be gone. Also get kuldeep to bowl to him and ask him to slog sweep. Play with his ego. He ll connect two but will get holed out in the next ball. I m not worried about head. I m more worried about Marsh and Green. 257/5 in 80th over and suddenly these two in crease and you see 346/5 and game gone for India

Ideal line up Vs Australia later this year:

Rohit (C)

Jaiswal

Gill

Kohli

Pant (WK)

KL

R Jadeja

Akashdeep/Arshdeep

Shami

Bumrah

Siraj

Number 8 is an issue as places like Perth & Brisbane Ashwin is not going to play as 2nd spinner. Not sure if S Thakur is still in favour.  Deepak Chahar never played a Test match. H Pandya not fit enough for Test cricket. Play your best seamers.

Harshit Rana has to bat at 8 ( unless he is unable to perform in the preparatory games. )  Has a FC average of 26 with the ball and 49 with the bat. Plus he is tall, hit the deck and 140k+, ideal for Australia.

Akashdeep and Siraj have to be rotated. Siraj is too hit or miss these days.

Every bowler will be rotated. Bumrah and shami cant play 5 tests. So its horses for courses. Even if they play 4 it ll be good. Thing to be maintained is at least one of them should be present in all the tests. My gut feel is bumrah and shami to play perth gabba and then adelaide bumrah might rest and shami plays. Then Melbourne bumrah plays shami rests and sydney both plays. Siraj might rest in the last test

Yes, we need a pool of 6 good pacers for a 5 test series.

Judging by their actions over the past 2 years, I’m confident, that this team especially in the bowling department will continue to decline barring significant forward looking changes.

Bumrah is the only bowler that’s a threat. He simply cannot play all the matches and he should not. I do not understand how Shami is even in the equation. He hasn’t even played since 9 months. He will get selected but he’s on his last legs considering his age and the chronic nature of his injuries. Even if he’s match fit, it will be nonsensical to play him for more than 3 matches.

These morons should have given exposure to at least 2-3 quick bowlers by this time instead of recycling the same low potential players over n over again.

I’ve never seen such risk averse behavior in selections even by Indian standards. You can go back 15 years. We at least tried players like Umesh, Varun (even though some dint succeed). This selection committee has not introduced even a single young quick in the side over the past 2 years. Worst of all, they have completely mismanaged the ones that were given chances 2 years back by the older committee. Guys like Umran and Sen.

They deserve to get a reality check. And even that may not change things.
