Guest Hiten.
MUMBAI, June 3: Mahendra Singh Dhoni might have missed the inaugural Indian Premier League title by the proverbial last ball but he has come out of the shattering thriller with his popularity intact. If there was any proof required, he got on Monday when he received an invite from one of the main sponsors of Euro 2008 to be a guest for one of the matches. In fact, it is more than just an invitation to watch a match. If everything falls into place, he will actually be giving away the Man of the Match award on June 15 for the Portugal-Switzerland game. Just imagine: if Cristiano Ronaldo happens to be the best player in that match, we will see Dhoni and Ronaldo on the same stage. The invitation, from Carlsberg, says: "I would like to inform you that it would be the first time in the history of the Euros that someone from India has been requested to grace the occasion. It will be a proud moment for India as the international press would be there to cover the event." Euro 2008, the world’s second biggest football tournament, is being played in Switzerland and Austria and will start on June 7. The Portugal-Switzerland match is in Basel on June 15. As far as Dhoni is concerned, there is only one catch though: he will be playing a tri-series in Bangladesh just around that time. If India go all the way, the Indian skipper won't be able to leave Dhaka before June 14, the day of the final. @TOI Whoa!!!! Dhoni mania is spreading all over :yay: Link to comment
Predator_05
Dhobi didn't deserve it. It should have gone to Badrinath instead. He has been totally shortchanged here. WILL THE PERSECUTION OF SOUTHIES EVER END ?!?!! Link to comment

theguyinallblue
This Dhoni chap is really a smart and mean man.. he is really feeding the egos of potential rebels...or competitors... Yuvi is vital for any indian captain...in ODIs and 20-20 at least... By declining the chancelike this...and instead asking his deputy to go.... he has shown excellent man-management skills.. he is really walking on the path of Steve Waugh...and how he handled Shane Warne... as warne too wanted the captaincy...and was a good candidate and the most important cog in the wheel of australian team.. flamy
I dunno abt this Euro thingy, but overall I've been observing with huge interest how Dhoni has been handling Yuvraj ever since he took over the captaincy. To have Yuvraj to deal with on top of all the pressures of being captain of India - good shith. Link to comment
Rohip
He sent Yuvraj? Smart move, Yuvraj feels important and Dhoni gets credit Link to comment
