Desi Cartman Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 KOLKATA: Around 8.30 pm on Sunday, when the city was being pounded by monsoon rain, some residents of Sinthee heard a baby's cries coming from an under-construction sewerage line. The road at Seven Tanks Lane was dug up for KEIP's sewerage project and some pipes lay at the spot. The area was waterlogged after heavy rain. With water rising rapidly, the locals launched a frantic search for the baby and zeroed in on a concrete pipe which was half-submerged. Splashing through knee-deep water, they felt about with their hands in the muck when suddenly one of them scooped up a little bundle. Incredibly, it was floating on the water and swaddled in it was a baby, all of three days old. Another girl abandoned by her parents. The brown-eyed baby with a mop of silky hair was crying feebly by now. The locals realized it was sick and hungry and took her to the nearby Seven Tanks Sports and Cultural Association. They dried her, bundled her in a blanket, fed her some warm milk and called police. Without waiting for police, they took the baby to a nursing home. The infant's condition is said to be stable. Police are trying to find out who had dumped the baby and when. They are searching nearby hospitals and nursing homes to see if it was born there. Newborn girls being abandoned is becoming alarmingly frequent in a city that prides itself on its culture. Such incidents are reported from places like Baguiati, Teghoria and Dum Dum quite frequently. In most cases, the infants die. And some incidents have ended in a horrific manner, with dogs eating up the abandoned infants. (

riya Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I can't believe how can humans be so cruel to do that to an infant .Oh dear ,how can they sleep properly at night after doing such an act .

How many of we Indians donate regularly??.... Also when western industrialists donate in millions...we have our great Ambanis busy contructing multistory building in South Mumbai and giving donations to political parties. I say, give funding to self-less serving organization like RSS and see how they are helping those poor and orphaned children in every corner of India.. Have anyone heard about this Ekal Vidyalaya project of RSS...it's a chrity school now have thousands of branches all over India. It helps orphaned and poor cheildren by not only feeding them but providing them a good education in true sense free from Jesus prayer and all that. I was pleasantly susprised this time when I found an "Ekal Vidyalay" in remote area of UP where they were distributing food and books to some tribal children called "Mushaharaa" in local. Guest dada_rocks Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Bengalin bandhu log mujhe maaf kar dena .. par bengal ka kuchh locha hai.. mere ganv mein kuchh aise log hain jinki shaadi nahin ho sakti for whatever reason traditionally they have been going to bengal and coming back with wife in a tow.. Ak shakhsh mere ganv ka to isi ka business karta hai.. pay him money he will find u a good bengali girl as wife.. aur ye larkian maine dekha hai sare nate rishte tor ke aati hain...... waise is case mein garib bhi ho sakta hai .. afford nahin kar paya hoga .. just couple of days back somebody left her 2-year old son in walmart with a note that she can't afford to feed him....... meri bibi bechari ro rahi thi khabar sunate sunate..
