Zero sporting culture in Women's sports in the subcontinent. That's why it's quite difficult to beat teams like Australia. It's like Don Bradman playing against India during his time. Would like to see how our women's teams stack up against Australia within a decade or two.

Had the same view about our men in this year's T20 WC, either win it all or go home in first round. Enough of these consolation prizes and SF appearances which extends status quo.

True but it's still nothing compared to women's achievements from the western countries. It's pretty difficult to overcome the first movers advantage unless you are China.

I think it still depends on state. Back then Usha, Shiny most of them from Kerala.  Northeast, haryana give us more athletes.  Neeraj has given an explanation for that.

Our most shameful episode in sporting history was averted thanks to two ladies, Sakshi Malik and PV Sindhu, in Rio 2016. Those who followed that Olympics would know, 10 times more frustrating/painful than Paris.

Against bigger teams all these catches would be costly. When they drop softly hit balls imagine them handling balls that are hit hard by Australians.

Special shout out to Dipa Karmakar, though she missed out on a medal by a whisker. 

 

We have had many legendary near misses, right from the times of Milkha Singh and PT Usha. But what that girl from Tripura did, and her sporting journey, I can't find words. Had she been born in US, Russia, China, she would have ended her career as a GOAT contender like Nadia Comanecci or Simone Biles.

Atleast with respect to cricket we shouldn't be talking about these deficiencies holding back our players. BCCI has the money and resources to level up our teams so far ahead of others which is not happening. If only our BCCI babus are as patriotic as the fans watching the sport.
