If India and Pakistan cricket doesn’t matter, then why do so many Indians tune to watch it.

That's not a logical argument. If there is any cricket on TV ( including the likes of lankan cricket league) people in India will watch it. Obviously if it is a high profile game involving the national team it will get viewership. That doesn't mean they are desperate for it or cannot cope with its absence. There is no clamour for more India Vs Pakistan matches anywhere in India. If it happens people will watch but that doesn't mean people are desperate for it.

I am sure Indian agreement would have been conditional.

Some post majure kind of thing is there..where you can still say no based on valid concerns like security

Don’t mix formats. In T20s, India has lost 2 out of last 4 games against Pakistan, and even the ones it has won, it was very close.

its in ODIs, where games have been one sided.

in any case, Indians enjoying winning and dominating Pakistan. The viewership of such games has benefited due to one sided nature

Not mixing formats,no one is that bothered when Indians have many other things to entertain themselves now

I never said that BCCI or Indian cricket cannot survive without Pakistan. Only a fool would think that. All i said was that Modi government is posturing to get votes.

and I am not jealous of India’s economic growth; however it’s nuanced growth. The Human Dev Index, poverty, inequality and education metrics are still pretty bad and marginally better than Pakistan’s, there are some big winners in the Indian economy which paper over the crack. It’s by no means a shared and equal growth. one can only fool people who haven’t studied economics.

as for vaccinating, it’s true there are bad apples, but they are kept on sidelines. Pakistan consistently elects non-religious parties to office. Pakistani leaders do not **** talk Hindus to get elected into office. The real extremism is what is happening in India. You are ELECTING an extremist manifesto to office, as evident by statements by your PM calling a significant minority “infiltrators”..

what I was envious of was the secular and democratic India and wished Pakistan was the same. However, today I am glad that I was not born in this India after looking at what has happened with it. You will know in 20 or 30 years what has happened. Even Pakistan grew 8% during Zia and Musharraf regime. Growth is not everything and you will soon find out.

Your govt is fake govt run by army

your politicians dont need to get vote by stating against Hindus as there are barely left there

the so called minority is just fake narrative in India as their population is more thsn your country population.. sufficiently more than the globally defined standard for minority..

A country of 1.4billion will take time to cement over cracks who have such problematic neighborhood.

you may not be but.the whole world is jealous..how India can grow in such bad times abd wants exposure to Indian market..ask West..

Indian govt went with sabka saath sabka vikas but so called minority doesnt care and doesnt votes for development..

as far as the BCCI is concerned they can easily play to make money but it doesnt matter..tgey will have to follow what govt says..

this is not a cricket matter now..its more than that..the ill intentions by PCB were shown when they were trying pok tour..

Why did BCCI and Indian govt keep quite until 3 months before the tournament. They should have just said no right away when original MOU was signed. It would have avoided the entire drama and controversy. Or is the drama and controversy needed to posture and show “we are tough on terror haven”.

At the time of signing, if you thought India will have to send team to Pakistan because a piece of paper is signed, then your board is as dumb as Afridi calling himself a mathematician

Again, none of what I said that indicates people cannot cope without it. But it’s simply untrue to say that it’s just another national game. It’s the most watched game by Indians. The grounds are full of Indians.

Yes, but if Indian Govt/BCCI never said no until last week, can you blame PCB to have some hope? Why give false hope? it also goes to show some level of deceptiveness on the part of BCCI and Indian government. Why create so much drama? They should have just said there and then that they won’t allow Pakistan to get ICC hosting right as they won’t go. That would have kept things straight. Who’s benefiting from this controversy?

There is no drama. PCB was trying to delayed this discussion as long as they could. Since Asia cup we all knew (in the absence of any diplomatic relation), where CT was heading.

It’s the most watched game by Indians

  1. India vs Australia (Final) – 59 million peak concurrent viewers
  2. India v New Zealand (Semi-Final) – 53 million peak concurrent viewers
  3. India v South Africa – 44 million peak concurrent viewers
  4. India v New Zealand (Group match) – 43 million peak concurrent viewers
  5. India v Pakistan – 35 million peak concurrent viewers

These are the figures from the icc from the most highly viewed games in  cwc23 world cup. India Vs NZ in a group game got more viewers than the India-Pakistan game

Agree with all the rest but this is completely false.

Many minorities want development

And also BJP is no better at vikas than anyone else despite talk claims

It's in bed with billionaires and is as or more corrupt than congress. Ambani and adani etc are real power behind the throne

The india growth number is organic and nothing specific to policies bjp had. In fact policies like demonetization pushed india back a bit, we could have grown way faster.

One of the biggest example of BJP not being for vikas is our oil prices. We have been buying Russian oil at throw away prices since the Russia Ukraine war. Where did the money go? Indians still pay one of the highest prices for petrol and diesel in the world. Oil prices have not dropped one paisa. All the money has gone only and only to rich businessmen who are selling this oil in Europe. Common man has got zero benefits.

Also It also clearly doesn't want sabka vikas as seen by its many leaders and their speeches and plans about minorities, there are clear talk about eradicating minorities or treating them like second class citizens

Claiming this government wants sabka vikas or cares for poor Indians is being delusional. It doesn't even care for its bhakts who have seen no benefits of the economic growth while billionaires become richer.

You're partially right, but you're oversimplifying things. Democracy and civilians also have space. It's true that the military holds significant power in Pakistan, but if it were as straightforward as you suggest, Imran Khan wouldn't be in jail, the Bhuttos wouldn't have been assassinated, and the Sharif brothers wouldn't have been exiled before. There's been a continuous struggle between democracy and the military in Pakistan, with highly popular leaders who have won elections through their appeal. A recent example is Imran Khan, who won the election while sitting in jail.

Pakistan isn't like the Middle East, lacking democratic roots. It has a vibrant civil society, somewhat open media, and a strong desire for democracy, which continues to fight for space. Today, almost all major political parties in Pakistan (except for some fringe ones) seek peace with India, and people support them at the ballot box.

My point wasn't about the size of the minority in India and Pakistan, but rather what the current Indian leaders are focusing on to secure votes. Why does the BJP feel the need to label a minority as "infiltrators"? Whether there is 1 Hindu or 1 million Hindus in Pakistan, the leaders of Pakistan have never referred to them with such a derogatory and disenfranchising term.

I dont want to digress here from the current issue as I have some strong views on govt stuff..I treat bjp like andho

mei kaana raaja but better than opposition..who are sold to deep state..but thats a different discussion not for this thread..

I blame BCCI all the way, if you don't want to play Pakistan - don't play them period. Location reason is BS.

On the other hand, ICC and BCCI PCB should have known that this wil always be an issue, should have planned for a alt locaton anyway

I am not sure what your point is? Are you saying that Pakistan vs India match is not the most watched game in India and the world? If yes, then that would solidify what I am saying about some unreal delusion nowadays and denial of reality.

“According to reports, this epic encounter garnered a staggering 256 million viewing hours in India alone. This translates to a massive audience, solidifying the India-Pakistan match as the most-watched of the entire 2024 World Cup.“

It has been our stance for years. Why would it change?

Then why was the hosting right of Pakistan ICc champ trophy 2025 MOU signed by BCCI in 2014. Why waste everyone’s time
