Difference between 2020-21 BGT and 2024 BGT - "Seniors" and "Experience"

In 2020-21 we had seniors running away and newbies were given a chance. In 2024 we had the opposite scenario where the "seniors" were brought back at the expense of youngsters, and the results are there for all to see.

It's not a new phenomenon either. At the moment our two most useless players who drag the team down are our so called most experienced "stars" in Rohit and Kohli. This effectively makes us a 9 man team and it's difficult to overcome the constraint of playing with 9 players.

Over the recent past we've shown that at max we can carry one passenger but that's our limit. Against Eng at home we won 4-1 coz "King" Kohli decided to take a break and Jurel helped us make the difference. Both the seniors came back against NZ at home and we promptly lost 0-3. In the 1st Test of 2024 BGT we only had one "senior" with Rohit not around and we looked like a team. Rohit "Brearly" Sharma came back and with 2 passengers to carry, the team looks totally different from the one in the 1st Test.

It's more than clear we can only carry one passenger (senior) at a time but we're still saddled with 2, which is beyond us. At max we can compete in a 10 vs 11 game but 9 vs 11 is simply too much to overcome. We'll end up losing a winnable series thanks to the two seniors right after being clean swept at home by NZ for the first time in our history thanks to the two passengers and this is the two seniors' legacy - experienced in losing series and making a difference for our opponents.

If Rohit retires, we will still be left with one non-performing player in King. This will still make it hard to win overseas, though we may do okay at home

At home we should be ale to manage but gonna be tough Away. But at least we'll be much more competitive. Look at "seniors" from other teams such as Smith, Root or Williamson and compare them with ours. Even someone like Labuschagne has shown more guts and gumption than the two passengers we have.

Really feel bad for Bumrah whose legacy is being impacted by the two clowns. He deserved this series but the two seniors ensured he won't win here just like they've ensured he didn't win an ICC tourney for more than a decade thanks to their no shows and choking in ICC knockouts.

fortunately Boom does have the WT20 now, so the cupboard is not entirely bare.

He deserved much more. Look at his Aussie counterparts. They've 2 ODI WCs, WTC, and WT20.

Bumrah only has one and even that one was because he had the greatest tourney in the history of the game. He needed to perform miracles to win it. Bumrah's better than Aus pacers but still ended up well short in the ICC tourney wins coz he didn't get the support from his batters the way his Aussie peers got. They had Smith and Head who showed up at the crunch and made a difference.

Our useless seniors and stars are there in name only. They couldn't make a difference anywhere and hung on to Bumrah and bowlers' coat tails. Wish we had someone like Head instead of the useless parasites or even someone like Gambhir who showed up when it mattered.

2 guys not all seniors

They were the two most senior guys whose position can't be questioned. We actually dropped Gill here who still managed to score 28 and 31 at Adelaide, which is much better than what Rohit has done in his last 10 Tests.

yeah, he could and should have had more. I will add, however, that 2021 WTC was a batting debacle, but also his bowling was very poor in that crucial match

When your batters can't do shyte and give you no chance whatsoever, you're bound to get frustrated occasionally. Bumrah and bowlers, especially Shami, have been carrying the team for ages now. With even a half decent support in SF and Finals we win at least 2 more titles. But our stars didn't even have one performance in them when it mattered.

Pujara in 2 BGT, Rahane as captain, Ash-Jaddu as spinner/lower order runs contributed many times

I meant the two seniors who have the freedom to do whatever they want without any repercussion. Even likes of Ashwin and Jadeja are dropped when they've been far and away the biggest match winners than the two. And I'm sure these @$$holes will drop Bumrah as well in case he has an off series. But they've remained in the team throughout without performing anywhere close to what they expect others to do.
