Post Tendulkar, MSD, Kohli BCCI generated so much revenue due to super star worshipping culture. They needed someone to do that job for BCCI. He is their budget pick. India is never going to worship match winning bowlers  be it is Bumrah or Ashwin or Jadeja. This culture needs to sustain for BCCI's growth. They sure know the numbers of Gill.  They have been grooming for a while.  He has the excuse to lose his first series as well because he has a brand new squad.

They should've gone with Iyer instead of Gill if they were looking for a batter as a captain. Iyer is a better captain and a leader.

For tests, it has to be Bumrah...make Gill as vc maybe. But let Bumrah captain.
In a 5 test series, Bumrah is supposed to play atleast 4 of them, Gill can captain in one once Bumrah is rested.
