He was good for his age back then, he was playing 2 levels-up his age group and was dominating, but all the bad things one would wish not to happen to a up coming player happened to him.

 

His game was not fully developed and he was drafted for test cricket to open and that to at a point in time where they were not setting up players for success.

He got success too early and that went to his mind, he was dropped and never improved and now the competition is far steep for him there are better batters than him now.

 

Players like Mayank, him etc were rejected after 1-2 failures where else players like KL, rahane and gill were backed.

 

Sanju and him are on different spectrum of same issue one who didnt get enough chances in time and other who got his chances to early and both lost interest and attracted bad media, not saying they were any special players but they were good for their age group and got bitter end of the deal.

I remember reading an interview of Pointing stating that this dude had a habit of shoving thing under the carpet when things didn't go his way. Pointing stated something like when he wasn't making runs, he would not practice and rectify the issues he was having. Rather ignore it all together. Am sure selection panel also looks into things like this when deciding on who to select. Attitude like this is cancer and can spread through the whole team ... Especially when X player becomes a senior player

I am saying the same thing.
At no point did Rohit mess around and become a general pest like Shaw has.

You are right but Rohit was also serious about improving his skills. He didn't become one of the most feared batsmen in history of the game randomly. This guy completely ruined his image with his lazy work ethics and outside cricket activities

That came right after backing. Who knows how he'd react if he was dropped then. Or how Shaw would turn out by backing

Moved to mha, got a double ton. his train for white-ball may have left the station but in year or so time there will be a slot for opener in test side.

 

He has many issues with his technique not sure if he has fox all those and there are issues with his attitude as well.
