But isnt selfishness and playing for milestones at the expense of the team ingrained in Indian cricket psyce?

Playing for milestones is, but I don't think selfishness is not applicable to all.

Just 6 runs off the 48th over. Braindead batting. Harman good for nothing selfish. Richa is your only six hitter. Why come ahead of her :whack:

Don't even think they take it that seriously. Looks like chalta hai type attitude

Sachin dragging his career for selfish personal milestones- 100th 100?

Dhoni playing selfishly latter part of his career and ruining his legacy he had created so well

And now Kohli, who is hanging on for own selfish reasons god knows why.

Playing for personal milestones is indeed an act of selfishness

Wanting to extend career is not selfish. Why are you putting onus on players, selectors are doing what then.

Kohli is still fit  and failing in two matches is not a big deal .So a player fails for two matches he is hanging on for selfish reasons Gill also failed in both matches..Wonderful logic.

In game management  while putting yourself ahead of the team is selfish .

7.04pm local: News is that the restart will be at 7.50pm local. Match reduced to 49 overs per side and innings break will be of 10 minutes.

So we will come back for the 49th over.

Extending career pointlessly when you know youre past your best is selfish- selectors have pressure from broadcasters and IPL lobbies to keep the sheetshow going which is RoKo.. being physically fit has no bearing on the output and we have seen Kohli's apathy on working on his weaknesses for the last 3 years. Why didnt kolhi play 50 over domestics in preparations? He has had a 6 month break after IPL, just waltzes in like some sort of king and then shits his pants- not respecting the game and preparing for it is selfish.

Comparing with Gill who is early in his career to someone who's at the end of their career is stupid lmao

This is  India's performance in the last 2 years. As you can see only a handful of players have done  well. Look at Shafali. Pitiful.   Smriti has 9 centuries.   Next 4 players 7 centuries. THta's pretty much it.

Australia last 2 years. They have more match winners Run distribution is even. India has Harleen and Pratika with low strike rate.

Who are you to decide when players need to retire. They are allowed to make their own decisions. Why do people think they have right to tell players when to retire.

There are selectors and it is their job to select players. Why is he not playing domestic cricket is correct question. That is what selectors have to remind both of them, if they intend to play 2027 world cup. They have to play matches. They cannot walk directly into international cricket. They are not on trial here, even if they fail all three matches they should be fine.

Gill has more to prove than either Kohli or Rohit. As long as they are willing to play domestic matches and keep themselves fit both of them should be in contention.

Guys like Gill, Iyer  have to prove that they can do the job on their own.

Failing without consequence is fine then?

As a fan of cricket people have their opinions- if players out of choice are doing something opposite (as is their right), then people also have the right to call them selfish. That is my point, SENA players retire when they know their time is done and usually leave on a high- Indian players are selfish who just prolong and prolong- and yes I as a fan of Indian cricket ( not a toxic pr paid fan boy of one particular player) will call that out

What consequence, players have failed in three straight innings many times.

Guys like  Kohli or Rohit are not on trial about their ability. They have scored more runs than any other Indian player past and present in Australia. So if some fans is moronic that is not their problem.
