We've won WC (WT20), CT and Asia Cup since we last won a toss in an ODI!

Yup, that's correct folks. We've managed to win 3 tournaments since we last won a toss in an ODI, which was in Nov 2023. For nearly 2 years we haven't won a toss in an ODI and have won WT20, CT and Asia Cup since we last won a toss. Looks like winning a tournament is easier for us than winning a toss

Looks like we need to have an addendum to the law of probability. Probability of a coin toss is 0.5 unless the coin toss occurs with the Indian team involved. In that case the probability dips to closer to 0.1 (and I'm being charitable). Even India's Women team hasn't been spared the curse as they've managed to lose the toss almost everytime when it mattered. They lost the toss against SA, Aus, Eng and NZ and I'm sure they'll lost the toss in the SF as well.

Has anyone seen such a run of bad luck? And even before India won their last toss against NZ in WC SF in Nov 2023, we had won only one toss in an ICC knockout over the last 8 years before then. Here's India's toss record in ICC knockouts since 2011...

2011 WC Final: L (SL)

2013 CT SF: L (SL)

2013 CT Final: L (Eng)

2014 WT20 SF: L (SA)

2014 WT20 Final: L (SL)

2015 WC SF: L (Aus)

2016 WT20 SF: L (WI)

2017 CT SF: W (B'desh)

2017 CT Final: W (Pak)

2019 WC SF: L (NZ)

2021 WTC Final: L (NZ)

2021 WT20: L; Lost all of the key tosses to Pak and NZ where it was win the toss, bowl first and win the match scenario at "Dewbai"

2022 WT20 SF: L (Eng)

2023 WC SF: W (NZ)

2023 WC Final: L (Aus); another crucial toss lost at that panauti stadium where toss rules the result

2024 WT20 SF: L (Eng)

2024 WT20 Final: W (SA)

2025 CT SF: L (Aus)

2025 CT Final: L (NZ)

That is astounding record and one of the reasons we sucked in ICC tournies in knockouts as toss does give you an advantage like in 2019 WC SF or 2023 WC Final. What makes it worse is that we managed to win the toss in 2017 CT Final and that bone headed panauti of a captain Kohli decided to bowl on a flat patta, going against coach's (Kumble) decision knowing fully that Pak are mental midgets chasing.

When you combine this record over the last 15 years in ICC tourneys and the current record of not winning a toss in ODIs for 2 years (and 16 matches), it boggles your mind. By the way we lost all 5 tosses in the recent Test series in Eng, lost all 4 tosses to Aus in 2020-21 BGT, lost all 5 tosses to Eng when they toured us as well! So this losing the toss is not just limited to ODIs and ICC tournies.

We better make a sacrifice to change our fortunes or make all ICC knockout matches day matches so dew (and toss) doesn't have an impact

How can a team be so **** in calling the toss ?

Beyond imagination at this point. Losing the last 18 coin tosses in men's cricket and all the 6 tosses so far in women's cricket this WC goes beyond luck and coincidence.

This is so ridiculous that ICC using Sholay wala coin or some sort of trick coin to troll India is more believable than the luck reasoning.

Goes beyond luck.

It's roughly 50-50 on whether the correct call is made. Look at the mathematical probability of making the wrong call 18 times in a row.

18 in a row for Men and 6 in a row for Women in this CWC! Plus when you take into account certain series such as recent Eng Test series where we lost all 5 tosses, Eng's tour to India where we again lost all tosses or BGT in 2020-21 where we lost all tosses once again, it's more than remarkable as those don't come in this 18 tosses lost category.

@Gollumhas mentioned in another thread that we've lost 26 out of 30 tosses against Eng! Aus is another lucky team who gets rub of the green more often than not. They won 6 out of 7 tosses in that "win the toss win the match" 2021 WT20 at Dewbai and they won that crucial toss in 2023 WC Final. Those two tournies were the direct result of winning the toss.

We win the toss for a change and match gets washed off, you can't make this up :rotfl:

I'm telling you we need to make a sacrifice. Kisi ki aahuti deni padegi. I'm all for "King" Kohli taking one for Indian cricket :agree:

Cricketing gods need to be appeased and are calling for a sacrifice. Who better than the greatest servant of Indian cricket and the true hero of Indian cricket - "King" Kohli. He "carried" India for more than a decade and was the reason why India is "relevant" in world cricket so he's the right person for the job!
