I have started appreciating thought process of Gen Z. Ofcourse they work just as hard as anyone at work. Most are smarter than me at their age but they also want a balanced life (something oldies like me need to learn from them). Most are ambitious and want to live their lives. Whats wrong with it? I guess my generation is jealous cause we couldnt do what they do. If this generation can bring reforms then more power to them.

I think this is in line with what I said in OP. Just that I think the challenge with Gen Z will be their IQ and EQ. First generation in recorded history to show worse off trends compared to previous generation.

Whatever has gone off with Gen Z, is fault of previous generation. I think this has to be clear. Previous generations only goal in life was to make it economically and give whatever they can to their children. Unfortunately human beings are more complex than that. So I blame gen x and millennials.

I think from the limited point of view of system, they might be what we need but it cuts both ways. They are also ultra consumeristic generation driven by latest insta trends. So all this work life balance would only go so far especially when AI kicks in.

They also seem to lack natural human empathy and certainly low on resilience. Resilience is important to take decisions, face uncertainties and be happy in light of changing situations. Building an emotional framework in social Media  will make one loose any possible self awareness that is not funelled through the lens. So I see extremes in them.

They are certainly a new lot. And beyond a point I don't care. But from business and start up perspective wellness centres could be great opportunity. We will see clinical, psychiatric and suicidal cases go up.

On the flip side, early disillusionment might make intelligent ones develop conviction early about themselves.

Yeah, every gen is like that.

Gen Z has a first mover advantage due to presence of Social Media. Otherwise even Gen Y wasnt different.

Infact GenZs are more disciplined, we were chaotic in schools.

I did say that I agree with you. In fact I say it in all my posts. There is an element of natural curve if change which I understand. But I don't think we have fully grasped what it is to be born into technology. SM and technology is fused part of their brain and body.

What are the implications of this ? Lot of work has been done on it. Especially by Jonathan Haidt. I cannot emphasize how important it is for society and parents to think about this.

Parent wont give their 5 year old alcohol because it is barred and it doesn't make sense. Now what's the line on screen time. No one knows. So the whole is getting drunk on technology and blind is leading the blind.
