Suryastra has got some bad publicity as it's an Israeli weapon with an Indian avatar.
But whatever is the nation of origin, key thing is if it suits our needs and we can use it and produce it in the required numbers.

CEP is insane for a 300 km range projectile...

With an Indian equivalent still 6-7 years away we should import more of these but for short term only

Israeli import lobby in India would love to kill Pinaka LRGR.. it shouldn't happen

Yes, exactly. And have them by the 10,000s.

Have you seen this footage of the Ukraine drone attack ?

India needs its own military industrial complex. Its not only a massive employment generator, it also ensures that India has so much offensive power that both Pak and China would think a million times before provoking India.

Yes, I think this was the exact moment when Russia pivoted from their traditional artilley of tanks to drones. Now Russia themselves is producing Geran in large numbers and are beating Ukraine in their own game. They also didn't had any kind of Air Defence to protect these.

One more lesson learned was not to park your costly airplanes in open...India too have started building hardened hangars across the airbases to keep planes inside away from the satellite imagery. That;s why India is putting effort to bring in AD in almost every airbase of Northern, Western and Eastern region. Airbases like Daulat Beg Goldie, Udhampur, Adampur, Hasimara, Tawang, Gorakpur, Srinagar, Pathankot, Leh, Jaisalmer, Bikaner etc are quite vulnerable to such attacks.

Nothing annoys me as much these effers lie and get away with because we don't punish them in a sustained ruthless attack.

I pray that the next time they lose so much land that they don't have a mouth left to lie.

If he doesn't lie, ISI and Army would take care of him.

Always remember even in 71 a day before surrender Pakistani radio, news outlets were reporting a miraculous Pakistani resistance in East Pakistan and how they are winning

Keeping the jaahil awaam in Delusion is a way to control things for them.

Currently under design, orders expected in 2028 and first ship to start sailing in 2034...
2028 is the same year where I expected orders for P18 as well
This year perhaps P75I will be ordered, P17B probably next year along with P28A.

We already did enough damage that day - when the command and control centers were destroyed at Pindi, their air defense became obsolete temporarily and were forced to contemplate a nuclear attack (before Kirana Hills got hit of course)

Pak's delusional is by design, it was never created to protect subcontinental Muslim interests but more like a vassal state to keep things in check due to its proximity to middle east, China, Russia and India.

If Pakistan was a robust self sufficient nation, US would have never won the Cold War, plus they would have lost a big market for their arms.

This is just another option for the RFP given by Indian Army for the loitering munitions.

Currently we are anyway using Harop loitering munition which is Israeli...

As long as we have home grown tech like Seshnag 150 & KAL available...importing few foreign equipments shouldn't be an issue, specially if they're cheap and pvt sector can produce them in abundance.

It's okay for stop gap requirements and emergency procurement but over the period of time it becomes permanent requirement and it's a never ending cycle as we have seen.

Sheshnag 150 unless produced in thousands and thousands won't justify the price tag either.  Needs massive orders placed.. otherwise as usual we will have Israeli systems operating.  Israel will laugh its way to the bank at our incompetence.

Good interview on some of our recent missile tests:

Scramjet hypersonic engine has alerted both US and Chinks.
India is the 4th nation to achieve that after these 2 and Russia.

Yeah, absolutely.

NIBE is a pvt sector company, and they'll need funds.
That's where giving a short contract for a foreign assembly is fine. Israel's manufacturing capability is restrained by it's geography. Infact the same reason why Dassault and Safran has moved their MRO to Nagpur and Hyderabad respectively and Sukhoi is looking for an offshore manufacturing in India.
India should accept these manufacturings, even if we don't buy it, we can easily export them to Armenia, South East Asian countries in bulk.

Nagastra, Tata's loitering munition and Seshnag are home grown R&D....they should be promoted first. While for motivation purposes token orders for Vayu Astra-1 can be placed so that company can continue manufacturing. We already gave 293 CR orders for Suryastra, and that too is a small token order, not more than 50-80 precision guided rockets with different ranges. Same can be done for VayuAstra....give some 100-150 orders for these while reserve massive orders for Seshnag, Nagastra and ALS-50 in thousands or tens of thousands.

Anyway if we compare the loitering munitions, Seshnag 150 and KAL are more heavier (25-40 kg) and have a long endurance of 750-1200 km range
Vayu Astra and ALS50 are competing in mid tier category with payload of 5-8kg and range of 50-100 km
nagastra is in light tier, with range of 15-30 km and payload of only 1-2 kg

Currently till 120-130km, we have Pinaka's (mk1 to mk3)...Pinaka mk4 is still slated for trails in 2028 long range is still under development.
From 150-300, we can use Suryastra under rocket force. Till Pinaka mk4 is ready. 500 km onwards Pralay is already there for massive strikes.

Reckon Solar had already pitched for longer range rocket system few years ago... But were denied back then. Corruption is still out there happening in the name of screwdrivergiri...and in this case Nibe is probably just a front as it is mostly a small scale level hub with zero know how in def R&D  in the first place that people are now noticing.

I just hope Armenians place some massive orders for Pralay soon.. Army will keep asking for moon trials and Jupiter trials as we know.

Its a very good weapon.

But as you say no sub for pinaka.

Like the k9 system we need to ensure these can be produced at will.

Correction here, K9 is South Korean and is under licensed production so it can't be produced at will without placing orders.  We have placed additional orders and Rajnath Singh was in South Korea this week to talk about it.

K9 Vajra,SU30MKI,Drishti or C295, Scorpene and now PULS etc are not Indian platforms and are under licensed production which is only for mere assembly unit and we have no IP rights.

This below covers mostly everything that's indigenous and what's under licensed production and screwdrivergiri

should we also rename this indian defence thread?

Yes next ops would probably have a name change anyway.

Op Meghdoot is one of my favorites along with Op Falcon led by legendary Sundarji
