Have we seen poorer catchers than Abhishek and Tilak???

They can't catch for shyte, drop catches every match and are poor fielders as well. And they're the "youngsters" who're supposed to be quick in the field and the best fielders. When you add known laggards such as our bowlers (Varun C, Kuldeep, Siraj etc.), how do we compete with better teams when saddled with such liabilities in the field? Take out Rinku and there's nobody reliable left in the ground!

We need to make fielding a non-negotiable. WI managed a score of 190+ only due to our fielding. Had we fielded well and simply taken our catches, we would;ve been chasing a total around 170.

Among youngsters, I thought Sundar was the worst fielder.  But no, Abhishek is way worse.    Dropping catches once in a while is Ok.  How can someone drop catches in every game & still be in the team forever? (With sh!t batting performance in 10 consecutive matches)

Don't compare Tilak with Abhishek. Yeah Tilak has been dropping some tough catches lately but Abhishek is currently the most pathetic fielder in the world.

 

He's been dropping similar catches in the outfield since a very long time and doesn't seem to improve.

Tilak and Abhishek drop catches all the time. When ball goes up in the air, Rinku is the only safe catcher along with Pandya. Rest everyone is iffy, especially Abhishek and Tilak.

Tilak is fine. He has dot ball limitations. But he is clutch. Catch dropping has become a habit. India needs stable players who play well in crunch games.

Tilak is all round a much better fielder. Tilak has dropped a few catches recently but not a bad fielder overall.

Overall, Tilak is a much better fielder. Yes, he dropped one today near the ropes, as he wasn't positioned properly.  But Abhishek is being given a long rope with endless poor performance in both batting & fielding.  Should be dropped in next game.  We can open with Sanju and Kishan.  Let Rinku come into the playing11.   No need for Abhishek (for the upcoming KO game), who is terribly short of confidence.

At this point team should be thinking of dropping Abhishek for his fielding/catching alone. It's one thing not contributing with the bat but dropping dollies and making the team's ask even tougher is a different ball-game altogether.

Agree.  But Tilak can't be dropped now.   He has started getting into rhythm while batting.  Played well against Zim and today.   His overall confidence has improved ,if u compare it with his initial matches upon return to the side.  But same can't be said about Abhishek.

Tilak's dropped 5-6 catches this WT20. Anything other than a simple dolly and he drops it. At least take 40-50% of the tougher ones. Today's catch as well would've been taken by SENA teams and he not only dropped it, he allowed it to go for a 6!

 

He's better than Abhishek but that's setting the bar way too low. At the moment you can put a "galli ka kutta" on the field and you'll get comparable results as Abhishek.

He can't be. Tilak's batting well and I can see him score a big one. The problem is Abhishek and SKY as the weak links in Top 4 - both are walking wkts at the moment and carrying two passengers is difficult, especially when Abhishek's fielding is shyte!

 

Team should seriously think of replacing Abhishek with Rinku. Let Samson and Abhishek open with Tilak at 3 and rest of the batting as usual. Abhishek's diabolical catching can end our tournament, and I can see him dropping someone like Buttler, Salt or Brook and they changing the match after the reprieve.

Among our new guys  Rinku, Nitish kumar Reddy are top notch fielder. Nitish is only slightly slower than Glen Philips. Very fast off the blocks. Always stops somehow. Among seniors Iyer is rapid across the turf.

Tilak has this clutch ability. May not always come off. Proved atleast thrice. Once impossible chase agianst England then Asia cup final and Today clutch cameo. Even the shot he got out to was extraordinary catch.

We can't have so many serial catch-droppers and sloths on the field. Looks like 7-8 players need to be hidden.

Varun C is expected lol That guy was an architect till 29 or so. Very late career. Never came through proper system. You just have to hide him like how we were hiding Munaf patel and lodus in the 2010s. But guys like Abhishek who came through under-19 system have no such excuse.
