They are the like the San Diego / LA Chargers. Only fans are friends and relatives of players.

They made the mistake of moving the team from San Diego to LA, and that too after Rams had already moved to LA. They had a decent fan base when they were in San Diego.

LSG has become like Rajasthan Royals...not many fans but people don't hate them either, hence they flow under the radar. Though these franchises provide ample opportunities to the future potential stars.
They do have good players who are likeable like Mayank, Shami and Pant. But there is always a question mark around them due to different reasons.
Anyway winning trophies is the best way to build a fanbase, LSG being the latest entrant will always have a smaller loyalty base in comparison to rest as they've to snatch the fans from the "OGs".

Kl pick was based on the hype that many team were looking fr him. At that point in time he was looked as the next Ind t20i captain or one of the top contender.

Indian Cricket relies heavily on PR & Optics. Hardly anyone analyze the match.

He was notorious for playing maiden overs in T20s, infact our whole T20 game plan was to conserve wkts, go slow and then try to maximize in last 4-5 overs. One big reason why we went trophyless for a long time.

Its only when we were beaten back to back in 2021 & 2022 T20 WC, people started questioning and pressure mounted.

It is really sad for Indian cricket fans that KL Rahul is still playing for India  If he plays in the 2027 World Cup  he will ruin another World Cup hope for India

RR is not a major market team, they know this and this is how they have placed themselves in the league. They bring Old exp. players to team to lead and have fringe or new players in the side.

Finishing 4/5/6 is a good season for them. They make some outrageous picks in terms of contract.

The scene with Lsg is diff. they want pick Ind stars regardless if they are suited for the t20 game or not. If they are in Ind side in any format that is what they want<-- Most of other teams also do the same.
