Chhole (white peas) kulche in delhi is possibly the best veggie breakfast there is. It is most nutritious, fulfilling, energetic (feel active n awake after eating), tasty, great on the stomach.... I take it 3 times a week atleast.

I eat non veg but vegetarians do have good sources of protein. Kala Channa is probably my most fav channa. Rich in protein and iron too

But she invested her money too there and became the face of the franchise. She did the right decision. Got a substantial stake in the franchise. It was Ness who asked her to invest in the Franchise. So that she would have substantial earnings to fall back on once the Bollywood gravy train dries up. Also, at that point Ness and Preity were looking at a future together and their combined share would equal that of Mohit Burman who has 47% stake IIRC.

Even though both of them broke up later. Maturity talks

But all kinds of dal (- moong, chana, urad, toor, masoor), rajma, chhole, beans, lobhiya, peas i find easy to digest and tasty. Edited April 25 by randomGuy

Even as a non veggie, it's a Myth that there's no proper Protein rich diet for vegetarians.
bsriharsha Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Even a typical south indian "home made breakfast" of a dosa (which has urad dal) and peanut chutney (which has well peanuts aka proteins) does get the protein counter high. I'm not even including other millets there that people do add for health reasons like raagi etc etc
bsriharsha Posted April 25 Posted April 25 I'm not a dietician. But fibre , proteins , carbs in that order are the best bet for gut health

That’s not chhole - it’s mattra, which you actually see far more commonly in Delhi than traditional kabuli chana. When I visited Delhi in 2024, I had a whole list of “must-visit” chole kulche spots. The top recommendations were Lotan and a very well-known place in Mayapuri. I went to both — but honestly, I couldn’t bring myself to eat there. What’s often described as “nutritious” was being cooked with tadka made from low-grade margarine and palm oil. In the end, I settled for a local Haldiram’s to satisfy the craving. Not trying to sound like a snob, I do enjoy street food when I’m in Mumbai. Lord 1

Everyone calls it chhole kulche only, which is why I wrote white peas in brackets. I often have it as home even today evening and lunch...soak it overnight, cook it in the morning...eat with onion, masala, imli chutney, Tomato, green chilli...we get wheat based kulche instead of maida. Once I had 7 days a week street kuchle chhole breakfast. Felt Great. Just have it less spicy Infact white peas protein is competitor for whey protein ... In middle East, falafel is also made of white peas btw...
