Also, Ishan is the worst keeper out of the 4. Pant>Sanju=KL>Ishant just on keeping prowess I rate Ishan higher in white-ball cricket to handle adversity. Pant is a lost case since his accident and I'll play him only in Tests. Sanju has shown a lot of improvement and I wouldn't mind seeing him get a go but if I've to choose between Sanju or Ishan, I would choose Ishan. But trying out Samson to see how he does is a decent option as well and in case he isn't consistent, go with Ishan.

Nikhil_cric Posted May 2 Posted May 2 KL has to be the first choice WK/bat at this point. https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/422108.html?class=2;filter=advanced;opposition=1;opposition=2;opposition=25;opposition=3;opposition=4;opposition=5;opposition=7;opposition=8;orderby=default;spanmin1=16+Jun+2019;spanval1=span;template=results;type=batting Nobody else has his body of work in this format.
tapandrun Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Rishab last played his t20i and Odi vs SL in Sl in mid 2024 nearly 2 yrs. back. He has been on bench on Odis and dropped from t20is. Kl is locked as wk batter for the Odi WC he avg. 50 and sr 90+.
singhvivek141 Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Go for Jurel, he won't be a bad option for ODIs, is the best keeper amongst all the names mentioned. He has issues in T20s, but he can bat in MO, rotate the strike against spinners while playing % shots. Pant can get bogged down if the field spreads out, KL will fluff in crunch moments, Sanju seems best of the lot but he can struggle in MO as there is no place in top3, Ishan Kishan's keeping is shaky. tapandrun 1

It's not as if he's going to play in Tests where pitches are seaming. He's gonna play on flattish pitches and it's not as if we have batters who'll handle seam and swing better.

tapandrun Posted May 2 Posted May 2 (edited) 49 minutes ago, Manucrick said: We are just hyping Jurel he hasn't done anything apart from the England series There are not many options Ind didnt try to develop any wk batter or any backups of sorts for any position be it wk or anyother. Apart from kl no1 is a viable option. All the other suggestions are based on player/wk-batting finding succees in recent t20s/t20is at the position which are already taken/locked in Odis side . In odis apart form 1st and last 10 overs its lots of strike-rotation and now with changing Odis too, need to play at high tempo but low risk so couple of 15 runs over in those 11-40 overs without taking much risk. A pure6-hitting or t20 batting does not help in Odis, saw that with wi , they were v.good t20i side but not that good Odi side. What Ind lacks is a LH batter in the line-up and a finisher like maxwell, miller..etc... That means Ind would like to have 2 batters from top5 to be still there playing last 10 over to maximize the last 10 over such that even 1 batter goes out while hitting in last 10 over thy still have pandaya to come. But having Pandaya and only 1 batter from top5 to play last 10 overs means Ind need to be cautious and that means delay switching from regular over to really big overs and if one of the batters get out that big finish is also gone out of picture Edited May 2 by tapandrun Manucrick 1

vvvslaxman Posted May 2 Author Posted May 2 In world cup matches against non minnows KL Rahul's strike rate is 79. He just gets stuck playing in self-preservation mode. 2019 & 2023 both flat pitch world cups. When KL bats teams are allowed to dicatte terms. In CT we were up against second string teams of Australia, New zealand. Even there he said he was scared towards the end. Mentally fragile. Untrustworthy. Ultimate_Game 1

Playing XI is compromised because we have to fit Rohit, Virat and Jaddu. Just keep one of them and we have a WC winning squad where KL doesnt have to keep. Ultimate_Game 1

Team does not inspire much, the issue is there are 2 ~40 yo and 2 batters who are not good vs a top side. Gill is going under the radar in all these conversation but he is not that good either. All his runs are soft-runs (vs b/c/d sides), think he has only 1 icc event to that too vs bd. The issue is same what Ind is facing with test side that they dint develop any player and now team is stuck. Top 6 are locked and there is no point now to talk who should be in or out from those 6, the thing is Ind need to build a winning combination around those 6. There are lot of posts saying such and such players should not be there, decision is already made once some players didnt retire after the 23-wc.The wc is not in sc or sc like conditions that you can fit any1 who looks to be good and is in form but its in SA (diff conditions) Edited May 3 by tapandrun Ultimate_Game 1

I expect a disaster. Rohit 99% won't feature there given his fitness. Even Jadeja should be dispensed with. But for some reason they keep playing him as a "finisher". Kohli is probably chasing 100 hundreds. Ultimate_Game 1

It's a team way past its best with semi-retired players and others who never really were white-ball players. It's up to selectors to do their jobs else another ODI WC failure awaits.
