These stats don't mean anything if India does not have a back up keeper to replace dhoni. Dhoni's glovework is a sufficient reason for India to keep persisting with him in tests.

Dhoni may or may not be a great test player, but he is our best choice at the moment. He has shown determination to improve against his natural instincts and I am sure that he will improve.

The problem is ... whenever someone is looked at to replace Dhoni ... its always either Karthik or Parthiv ... They are both ordinary keepers ... Who is the next best keeper? Maybe they should be given a go because Dhoni is not doing anything to cement his spot.

DK is not ordinary altho I have heard he has been poor of late. I reckon at his best hes a more natural gloveman than MSD. Not in the same class as a Bat of course.

I know that! Im not saying Dhoni is not the best keeper we have atm ... But when we're talking about the reserve keeper , maybe its time to look past KKD and Parthiv and look at the next keeper and depending on how he goes in the A tours and such, he may push Dhoni for a Test spot. Im just saying that unless there is some competition for his spot, he might run the risk of being complacent

Spot on Bharat. I am all in favor of Dhoni but keeping in mind that he has not been excellent, the search for a better keeper-batsman has to continue. And then we should not make the mistake Pakistan did in completely closing the doors for any new keeper once they found Akmal and when Akmal proved a disaster, they did not have any options to replace him. I am not saying that thats what will happen to Dhoni, but we should have a back up keeper for an injury or loss of form.
