At this point no spot of oldie should be a certainty.

 

There is nothing like a certain spot belongs to a certain player. Long rope/backing is not that it never existed , is Ashwin talking about kl who keeps getting backing after 2 botching 2 wc , he avg 35 in tests still keeps getting picked. Rahane was playing with sub 40 avg as Vc.

 

Previously players with certain major centres were backed for other centres it was hard to get a chance in the 1st place and then if they did not perform they were never backed or got a call-back its how its was, Now there are certain IPl teams whose players keep making to Ind side.

 

The things have changed how cricket is played not just in Ind but all over, every player has to be able to do multiple roles as there is another option available who may be 80% of the current player but also provides some other skill or flexibility then that player will be chosen.

 

Players these days should be ready to play at multiple spots and then only they can confirm their place in the side. Head opens in white-ball , bats 6/7 in red-ball and then he was asked to open in red-ball.

 

Those who are making case for rohit are right as well, those who are making case for jaiswal are right too, and those think viabhav is a good wild card are right as well.

 

The argument that Jaiswal is far superior to rohit in odis is not true, they only thing against rohit is his age which is a valid issue. they asked him to play domestic he is playing domestic, they asked him to get fit he is getting fitter, they asked that he needs to score runs in intnl he is doing so. 2 tons in 20 games could have had 2 more had he done tuk-tuk.

 

Jiswal is new , there is lot of potential in him , he got run in odis too , so a good start , but his big innings have only come when rohit scored 75+ runs this was the same pattern he followed in ipl with vaibhav. 

 

Most think if rohit can maintain form and fitness then he can play the wc, Its a decisional issue wether or not Ind team wants to move on from rohit or not.

Do nt pit rohit vs jaiswal. if rohit is not in the plans the slot opens up. and jaiswal gets the chance so will the other options.

There is no ambiguity when it comes to Rohit's age. Even when India didn't have greatest bench strength players didn't play at the age of 40. They called it a day. When you have plethora of option not having a chat with Rohit already is a step in the wrong direction.  Rohit, KOhli played at their peak in 3 world cups. Failed in crucial games. Now they are not even at their best. This arument of "they are still better than others" proved to be wrong in 2 formats. Tests and T20Is.  So it won't be any different in ODIs.  I don't think there is any justification to pursue with Rohit.  India trounced full strenght South Africa in 2022 when Indian main team (Rohit, kohli, rahul.. ) was in Australia preparing for world cup. Sanju, Iyer, Kishan did well in that series.  India also recently beat SA in SA without big guns. If India drops these oldies i don't expect any drop in performance.

For injuries to rohit, injuries can happen to any1 with age is just the added recovery time and plan to develop newer player in-place of waiting for ageing players to recover.

 

The odi batting line-up is not properly thought hence Ind is stuck, they have to add fire-power and depth. Only rohit is not the problem or only jaiswal is not the solution.

The batting does not have depth or fire-power. Ind is going with 5 batters that includes ageing rohit, kL, and Iyer who is not that good v.bounce even in Aus he did do that good , not talking about scoring its about being comfortable facing bouncer after bouncers, he has worked out a way for sc and sc like pitches.

 

think they would need to add Nkr to the playing 11 along with pandaya.

 

 

 

 

 

NKR and Pandya along with Axar will lengthen the lineup.NKR has to improve his bowling.

 

I would want VS to open.Jaiswal has to play in middle order.
