Jaiswal dropped from ODI squad for England tour despite Afghanistan ton

Honestly, Jaiswal can't make the squad till Rohit is there.

Kishan comes in as that one back up batter who can fit anywhere from 1-5 and a back up keeper.

Nitish will play at 6. He might eventually make the WC squad and be a back up for Hardik.

Axar will play at 7. Washi is his back up

Harshit will play at 8, followed by 3 more quicks.

This looks close to the final WC squad. I suspect they'll dump Kuldeep when Hardik returns.

Rohit is so selfish, wants to play a WC in his 40s. His PR is so active these days.

He is no Kohli, fitnesswise or even when it comes to record in RSA.

He ruined our BGT and now wants to ruin our WC.

Kohli in 27 WC will be younger than present Rohit. Unfair to lump him with Rohit and people like Jaddu, KL.

Team should carry only one 35+ guy in the WC, and that is mostly Kohli. If he suddenly loses his hand-eye few months before WC, can look past him then. Otherwise he should be in the scheme of things.

Ayush mhatre had just made 186 in the vijay hazare. When BCCI told Rohit and Kohli to play domestic. Rohit played for Mumbai. They dropped Ayush.  Rohit had 100 trial matches before even doing something in ODI.  These guys barely get 1 or 2 matches.

What he did in BGT - rocking up and destroying a winning team and then giving a mid pitch PR interview during the lunch break - was disgusting. Should've been kicked out right after. And here we are dropping Jaiswal for this 40 year old has been.

Ayush should've played. He's the future. They should've dropped someone else like Rahane (if he's still playing) or any other player unlikely to make it to Indian team.

But yeah the entitlement from our stars knows no bounds. At some point someone will have to say enough is enough and kick them out.

People clamoring for Jaiswal, pls give a reasonable plan to where he can play till Rohit exists and plays.  I know if it frustrating to see Jaiswal sit out, but claims that he should play at 5/6 or just be part of the squad look hollow.

Ideally, Rohit should have retired from ODI as well and Jaiswal should have come in his place. But now that Rohit is not going, and has the backing of the TM and the board, unfortunately, Jaiswal's return to ODI will only happen after 2027 or if there are injuries.

That is never happening. This is not the Australian selection panel.

Funnily he is called selfless for his quick cameos. Even in 23 final he should have converted his start. Quick cameos are not enough for seniors in Odis

This is nothing new, its a by-product of when an intnl player plays for their domestic side, some1 has to be removed from playing 11 and its most likely be a new player.

and the decision is not made by rohit , its would have been done by mbi tm coaches and captain

Rohit should be more scared of Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He is going to break the doors to get into the team. 15 Months is enough time for him to do so. You can keep Jaiswal away, but it would be so hard to keep Vaibhav.

Don't under-estimate BCCI and our selectors. They'll come up any excuse to keep Rohit and Kohli in the team. The reason they'll come up with is there's not enough time to make a change. They've already kept Jaiswal out of the T20 team when Jaiswal had the best stats in T20, and kicked him out of ODIs when Jaiswal averages 71 with 2 100s in just 6 ODIs. So why can't they keep Sooryavanshi out as well?

It will be between kuldeep and Sundar,

But this properly summed-up the situation,-if they think Kishan can play in SA condition then he double as back-up wk and opener.

The idea is quite same as that was in 2024 t20i wc, if rohit and kolhi are playing they will play all the games in the world up regardless of the form like they carried kolhi till the finals. So there is no need of a designated back-up opener and ppl keep forgetting that kl can be an opener too if needed and kishan can be slotted in as mo batter.

This whole idea of kl+kishan opens up a slot in playing 11 of having 1 extra bowler or an allrounder , adding Nithish adds bit of fire power down the order and also removes a full 10 over quota responsibility from hardik.

The back-up opener is not the primary concern for the team is lack of 6th bowler and fire-power. Amongst KL/Rohit/Gill/Kishan Ind is already carrying 4 openers. And amongst Gill/Kolhi/Kishan/Iyer there are 4 options for #3/4.

Its v.clear what tm is trying. Having both rohit and jaiswal does not solve many problems he can just open and they donot want 2 players with same role.

This is the same sh** happened to ishan himself. Dropped right after 210. Kully dropped right after man of the match award.

No. Ishan was dropped because for the next 17 matches, he averaged 35 with the bat and then tried to avoid domestic cricket or some shenanigans. He wasn't dropped right after the 210
