This may look oxymoron bt the issue is psl, yes these days every board needs their own league for their players to be at speeds with other players.

Now a days there is no such thing as developmental time for player , that you select a player and wait for few seasons and may be a county contract for them to develop.

if you do not have a t20 league than you are way behind the curve, sl had that issue.

When t20s were introduced , pak team was naturally suited for the format, alot of allrounders , players like shahid afridi, etc..

They made to 4 sf of 1st 4 t20i wc winning 1 and runners-up in 1.

Players and board marketed it as 2nd best league, which it was nt but everyone says they are 2nd. But they believed in it. And all the attention was gone towards t20is nothing else, pak team only did well in Odis when it was t20i wc cycle and apart from 2 years they were good at T20is when it was Odi wc cycle.

Psl was good for couple of seasons it was when , ipl scouts were asking intnl player to try out in psl or the other leagues before they put up their names fr ipl teams as there were lot of mis and then hits with ipl scouts and fringe intl players.

There is nothing to do with bcci in current state of pak crkt, greats like wasim, saqlain, akthar, ajmal etc.. had nothing to do with bcci other than getting popularity and personality dev.

world was different then. india was not the centre of the cricketing world. thing is all non pak teams get bilateral money as well as ipl money. that is an advantage.

if back in the day england had banned pak from county pak would have been a poor team. that is the correct analogy.

also psl's decline is due to ipl too. ipl affiliated il20 and sa20 have sprang up in same window giving more $$$ hence psl got downgraded in stature.

INDIA HAS DESTROYED PAKISTAN CRICKET INDIRECTLY:

>NO IPL WHICH IS THE PREMIER DOMESTIC T20 COMPETITION IN THE WORLD.

>ICC TOURNAMENT LOSSES VS INDIA (8-0 in ODI WC, 8-1 in T2 WC, 3–3 in ODI CT), CANNOT BE GOOD FOR THE MORALE/CONFIDENCE OF THE COUNTRY.

>NO REVENUE FROM BILATERAL CRICKET AGAINST INDIA, OTHER COUNTRIES ARE BENEFITING FROM INDIA WHEREAS PAKISTAN IS LEFT BEHIND FINANCIALLY.

>PAKISTAN NEEDS INDIA MORE THAN INDIA NEEDS THEM, THIS GAP IS GETTING LARGER EVERY YEAR. INDIA IS OK WITH THE STATUS QUO BUT FOR PAKISTAN CRICKET THIS IS TERMINAL DECLINE.

one more - no IPL $$$ in PSL.

IPL $$$ made SA20 and IL20 more lucrative than PSL hence affecting the player pool.

IPL window and team expansion will kill PSL further.

india has been playing bang cricket regularly with bilateral series as well as ipl participation.

Yes, a lot of BD youngsters get to play in IPL. Maybe they also occupy prominent overseas slots as well. And probably a lot of bilaterals were played in Tumbak Tu. That even a short bilateral turned a country’s fortune!

PS I guess in football, major countries don’t play India to leave it undeveloped. What a Khanspiracy:hitler:

Ind have not been playing Pak since 2008. Ind played Bang in 2024. Huge difference.

Barring IPL I think only SA20 is the profitable league going around and everything around is sorta struggling.

Will be interesting if PSL is even profitable these days... The limited  market value, sponsorship and viewership must be keeping it barely above the surface I'd imagine.

And BD’s fortune changed in a second!

I guess India simply has to stop playing a nation it does not want to be competitive. Maybe stop playing SENA teams so they struggle helping India win more trophies, right!

It is playing AFG next, so hoping AFG to become a major cricket nation too

Careful there .

You might cut yourselves with all that edge.

Ireland and Zim are next major cricketing countries since India has begun to play them. :cheer5:

PS just playing India provided such  a boost to Ireland that it went on to beat India!

On the other hand, money could not save India from what many consider a shameful loss to Ireland :(( (I hope no country lays claim to have destroyed India through Ireland).

Psl was never on the rise, it was good for 2 seasons when it was being played before the ipl window. The reason behind it was ipl scouts and Players agents were asking them to play cricket in sc i.e. psl.

What was happening in ipl scouts will get these fringe player into ipl sides but they were unable to perform in Ind conditions. So to improve scouting they asked players to play in sc like conditions.

The other thing was some players who were playing as a recovering games before ipl and some were playing hoping to get in ipl as injury replacements.

These all changed once IPL frncis eco-system expanded, now they had players from all over they can try them in ilt20 and call into their Ind academy and check if they can play in Ind conditions

In last couple of seasons psl started to be played in ipl window, not sure who came up with idea and why did ppl thought its even a good idea. Even a simple market understanding will work, ppl only interested in lower product when its offered at a good price or there is some other things coming with it.

As mentioned before as well there is just some financial loss for pcb not playing Ind thats it, nothing else and those bi-laterals were not a yearly thing.

there is not just "some" financial loss. and bialterals were very much a yearly thing between 2004-2007. if ind-pak were still playing trust me there would be a white ball series every year and a red ball series every two years as part of wtc. india's every wtc cycle would have eng/aus/pak (compared to eng/aus for now)

????

Bangladesh have been improving throughout the time India has been playing them. They drew series at home vs Eng and Aus as well as in NZ and SL and won in Pak pre Hasina ouster.

Afg will be a major white ball nation soon. In fact they have already improved so much as can be seen in their performances in 23 and 24 WCs.

Think they win those meaningless Bilaterals vs C/D teams a lot.  Like vs Australia and South Africa... So that keeps awaam delusional.

PSL I think is an echo chamber for them..

Will be interesting how long that lasts and how local/Chinese/Saudi sponsors keep things afloat.

KFC is only major PCB sponsor right now along with Pepsi.

naah they are understanding it - especially with all the india losses which they put up giant screens to watch.

India losses once/twice a year are the norm anyways... What they aren't used to is losing to BD this often and obviously getting blown away in Tests completely both home and away.

Hence the desperation to create spinning tracks vs C teams of Aus/SA even in ODI T20s..  to win at least something.  Like we saw recently when they created trash surfaces to win T20 ODI series vs Aus C side.

PSL caters to roughly 18-20 crore public domestically out of 25 crore give and take.

So they will always have the audience that a CPL or The 100 or Big Bash doesn't has.

Commerical aspect is where we will actually know how deeper and how quickly Pak cricket is dying.

The day PSL ceases to exist... Pak cricket will go kaput in an instant

The current PSL owners want to own the franchises instead of the current model of PCB leasing them for every 10 years.

With the current model how will any owner will look to improve their franchise if the PCB could change the owner after 10 years.

Like most league out side IPL halo, owners are not making any anything out of it.

Pcb's arrangement ensures that boards makes mny out of it

Psl is only successful to the PCB because they get the money from the broadcaster.

The broadcaster in this case is under severe losses because they couldn't monetize the league enough. Tough to monetize the league when the milbus buys sub rights at a pittance.

As of now the broadcaster hasn't paid the money , the PCB hasn't paid the franchises their money and all the PCB has is the bank guarantee that can be withdrawn. If the PCB does do that , who will come up and pay for the rights next time.
