deathmonger Posted August 31 Posted August 31 No bilateral money. No IPL money. No Indian money in PSL. Less money - weaker infra, weaker systems. India has basically "sanctioned" Pakistan cricket. As India becomes richer and increases its hold over cricket, Pakistan will diminish further. Nepal and Afghanistan next two teams to make the jump. USA and UAE too, due to their IPL funded leagues. Manucrick Posted August 31 Posted August 31 pakistan thought pulling their players out of IPL 2009 would destroy the league and cripple the BCCI, but the exact opposite happened and that brain dead decision is still hurting pakistan cricket to this day
tapandrun Posted August 31 Posted August 31 (edited) Nothing to with Ind in this, yes there is fncl loss for pak when they do not play Ind, there is loss of personality dev. in therm of how to talk and represent in media. bt nothing else, pak still gets 4 largest share frm icc, could be 3rd with some other arrangements because of Ind vs Pak games in icc-events. The issue is they started recycling low potential players like malik and hafeez. Misbah and Younis were test batters and they kept on playing white-ball. Misbah when he was captain, he use to bat low and score slow 50s for himself , saying all the batters were gone and he has to play this way. he never promoted himself to take the responsibility to score runs from the top. Because of failures of Umar Akmal and Shezad they hotught it was because these newer batter were emulating shaeed afridi and lossing wkts on weak shots , they over corrected with players like rizwan and babar. babar had good start to career, but then he never developed and kept playing b/c/d teams and scored runs and deemed as elite batter. but when teams started noticing him he got sorted out, similar thing with rizwan , it was a big fish in small pound to small fish in lare ocean kind of transformation. They were looking like top player vs b/d sides and they looked b/d kind of side vs proper sides. Pak were good for 2 yrs in t20is when shaheen was firing all the cylinders, he often got wkts at the top kept the scoring in check in pp and then rauf was hard to hit because teams can not take much risk. Once shaheen was injured everything fell apart. now the opp team were not just scoring sub par/par targets vs pak they were scoring big and babar and riwan didnt have the game to out bat opp. or chase down big targets. Pak has always been good when their bowling was good or they had good bowlers--Wasim, Akthar ,Saqlain -----Ajmal they helped pak win then Shaheen in recent times . Edited August 31 by tapandrun

They are losing money by not playing india. Test cricket needs to be subsidized. If they were playing some form of cricket vs india every other year (like in the mid 2000s including t20s/odis) they could invest all that $$$ in their cricket. What incentive is there for a Pak player to play and improve in test cricket when it is more profitable to be a T20 mercenary (and even there they are locked out of IPL etc). Prediction for the future - Good Pak players will go over to USA/UAE to bypass IPL restrictions. Not just the losers but actual good players.

Not sure what does distribution meant, there were traditionally 2 big cricket centre i.e lhr an kchi , recently its spread to other regions. Test crkt in on decline everywhere not just in pak, there is no incentive to be a test batter. No top test batter is able to succeed in t20s, only kolhi worked because he was a top odi batter then he fixed his game for tests. Even with that kolhi was not a prototype t20 batter. Not sure how playing for associate teams will help to get into ipl. t20 is such a fast changing concept that players have to be intuned with t20is or high level of t20s else they will fall far behind. Pak is good example , pak team was 150-160 team and other teams were 160-175 not a big diff but they did not change and other team just filled to 200-230ish side in no time. All the teams let go of ammumaltors and brought high impact t20 batters , but pak continued with babar and rizwan Edited August 31 by tapandrun

Nikola Posted August 31 Posted August 31 (edited) Why do we still keep playing icc events and asia cup with them? also why schedule every time is such that we get to play them 3 times in these tournaments? singhvivek141 Posted August 31 Posted August 31 Playing against India was the biggest hero moment for Pak. As the India Pak stopped playing, that euphoria slowly died...folllowed by the rise of India-Auzzie rivalry courtesy of BGT. After Ashes I can say that BGT is the biggest test series against 2 serious nations (AT trophy still needs more time). SENAI countries need to play more Tests amongst each other. Specially NZ & SA....

Tillu Posted August 31 Posted August 31 England and Australia earn roughly around $150 million and $100 million from bilateral series with India. Bilateral series with Pakistan will be an even bigger marquee series if it ever happens. They are missing out on all this revenue which could have gone into developing their grass roots cricket and other cricketing infrastructure. That's why the desperation, pleas and demands from Naqvi to resume bilateral cricket with India and their boycott fiasco during the T20 World Cup.

tapandrun Posted August 31 Posted August 31 This may look oxymoron bt the issue is psl, yes these days every board needs their own league for their players to be at speeds with other players. Now a days there is no such thing as developmental time for player , that you select a player and wait for few seasons and may be a county contract for them to develop. if you do not have a t20 league than you are way behind the curve, sl had that issue. When t20s were introduced , pak team was naturally suited for the format, alot of allrounders , players like shahid afridi, etc.. They made to 4 sf of 1st 4 t20i wc winning 1 and runners-up in 1. Players and board marketed it as 2nd best league, which it was nt but everyone says they are 2nd. But they believed in it. And all the attention was gone towards t20is nothing else, pak team only did well in Odis when it was t20i wc cycle and apart from 2 years they were good at T20is when it was Odi wc cycle. Psl was good for couple of seasons it was when , ipl scouts were asking intnl player to try out in psl or the other leagues before they put up their names fr ipl teams as there were lot of mis and then hits with ipl scouts and fringe intl players. There is nothing to do with bcci in current state of pak crkt, greats like wasim, saqlain, akthar, ajmal etc.. had nothing to do with bcci other than getting popularity and personality dev.

Pak players were part of the auction pool, but no franchise bid for them after 26/11/2008. Prabhdeep Singh Posted August 31 Posted August 31 INDIA HAS DESTROYED PAKISTAN CRICKET INDIRECTLY: >NO IPL WHICH IS THE PREMIER DOMESTIC T20 COMPETITION IN THE WORLD. >ICC TOURNAMENT LOSSES VS INDIA (8-0 in ODI WC, 8-1 in T2 WC, 3–3 in ODI CT), CANNOT BE GOOD FOR THE MORALE/CONFIDENCE OF THE COUNTRY. >NO REVENUE FROM BILATERAL CRICKET AGAINST INDIA, OTHER COUNTRIES ARE BENEFITING FROM INDIA WHEREAS PAKISTAN IS LEFT BEHIND FINANCIALLY. >PAKISTAN NEEDS INDIA MORE THAN INDIA NEEDS THEM, THIS GAP IS GETTING LARGER EVERY YEAR. INDIA IS OK WITH THE STATUS QUO BUT FOR PAKISTAN CRICKET THIS IS TERMINAL DECLINE.

As a tit for tat, PCB pulled their players last moment from IPL 2 and refused them NOC citing security concerns after mumbai attack. This was when all other countries were standing by india and allowed their players to join IPL and tour for bilateral series. Lots of franchises like KKR who depended on Pak players were hurt because of last minute withdrawal. Franchises not bidding was a direct result of what happened previous year. As a result, in IPL 3, when it was time for auction, all franchises together decided to not bid for any Pak players. There is no official ban on Pak players in the IPL, but franchises were fed up of PCB shenanigans Edited September 1 by New guy

You are correct that Pakistan gets 4th largest share from ICC. What they do get is 35m annually from ICC which accounts for 70% of PCB's revenue. However, Pakistan lost out on 70m of Sponsorship money because the India tours didn't happen. They sold their broadcast rights to private television players on the basis that they had a India tour for 150M. The broadcasters then clawed back 80m out of that 150m because the India tours didn't happen. Each tour of India gets the PCB atleast 30m in revenue. That one tour in itself is almost equivalent to the ICC annual money. So to keep it concise, India not touring Pakistan has had a very adverse impact in Pakistan's cricket and the quality of cricketers being produced.
