Dhoni didn't have to play too much of Mendis. Hold your horses for sometime. He did well to get through that period, IMO. Although Jaya was doing some weird shyt by not giving Mendis a continuous ten and just annihilating India. Playing Mendis is really more in the head than anything (as with anything in life). Right now he is The Bogeyman.

Fontaine Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Fontaine, unfortunately for him, Shoaib Malik and Shahid Afridi are not quality spinners by any stretch of imagination. They are average at the best. We have seen him struggle against quality spin in the past. Specifically Muralitharan. I would love to be proved wrong, but I dont think he will have a very comfortable one day series this time. Though I believe that his discomfort against spinners is only psychological and can be corrected with some good coaching. I don't think Mendis is the bogeyman he's made out to be. Sehwag and Gambhir weren't troubled by him and Dhoni played him well in the final. We're really going to miss Tendulkar because that would have given us another batsman who played him well. But I'm conifdent because our batting goes down all the way to 8 if we play Pathan, Harbhajan, Patel and Khan as the bowlers.

Give me a test opportunity, and I will suck ? He has the habit of speaking his mind. So what ? If you don't like him, don't read his interviews. Your opinion (like mine) doesn't matter jack **** to him. OTOH, if his antics (as his critics on this forum claim) help him stay in the news AND in the team, I would say good on him. I like seeing him bat, when he is in the flow. :-D
